Flounder braised with vegetables in a spicy sauce makes a great meal when paired with a bowl of steamed rice. The flounder's soft flesh absorbs the flavorful soy sauce quickly. Although it's a braised dish, it can be cooked in a short time.

Ingredients
1 fresh flounder
2 tablespoons mixed chillis (green and red)
300g or 10oz white radish (daikon radish)
1 medium potato
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chillis
Sauce
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon grated ginger
2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onion.
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons mirin or rice wine (or dry white wine)
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1~2 tablespoon gochutgaru (Korean chili flakes)
1/2 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
1 cup water
Instructions
1. Roughly dice the radish, keeping the pieces about an inch thick. Cut the potato in the same way.
2. Chop the chilis and green onion. Mince the garlic.
3. Combine soy sauce, mirin or rice wine Korean chili flakes, brown sugar. minced garlic, ground ginger, gochujang and ground black pepper in a bowl. Mix them well, and pour water into the mixture.
4. Place the radish and potatoes in the pot. Stir and pour 2/3 of the prepared sauce over the vegetables. Bring it to a boil. Once it boils, lower the heat to medium-low and cook for about 5 minutes.
5. Score the flounder deeply enough so the sauce can penetrate the fish. Place the fish on top of the vegetables and pour the rest of the sauce over it. Add more water to cover half of the fish. Then, cover the pan with a lid and cook for an additional 10 to 15 minutes on medium-low heat, until the flesh of the fish turns white.
6. Spoon the sauce over the fish and sprinkle the chopped chilies on top. Add the sliced green onion as well and turn off the heat..
