6 rounds:
30 air squats
19 power cleans (135/95)
7 strict pull-ups
400 m run
This workout was dedicated to the 19 Arizona firefighters who passed away, laying their lives on the line in 2013 fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire, the deadliest wildfire in Arizona history. There are many tribute videos and events dedicated to these heroes, including one done by some of CrossFit’s elite to honor those 19 legends.
As for my experience, it was a tough workout that feels like it should be 5 rounds so don’t get suckered into a quick pace. Honestly the workout is one movement: the cleans. My strategy of breaking went great until round three where I decided to do fast singles (fast-ish). Overall the squats, pullups, and runs should maintain a similar pace throughout (until emptying the tank in round 6). Overall a fun workout, just as mentally grueling as physically, like a hero Wod should be.
Give it a go and if you’re a fast runner you can beat my time. Shoutout to Jared who posted his workout on Wodwell who I used as a pace guide for the beginning of the workout.
