the US likes to slur Chinese companies as being state-owned and slaves to the CCP. The reality is that US corporations are by law subservient to the US government on issues of state security and national interest. That is par for the course in any state that has a functioning government and some notion of sovereignty. FedEx is no different. They at minimum have Homeland Security cells that can intercept arbitrary packages at a moment's notice. Same as other communications companies, whether internet based or logistics.

681 airsoft pellets in his luggage? Seriously? He's being investigated for that? Because airsoft pellets are "weapons" and "ammunition" and "weapon paraphernalia?" It took me all of 30 seconds in Google to find four airsoft stores in Hong Kong. My sons have owned probably 20 airsoft guns since childhood. They still go to airsoft battles occasionally -- the paid ones where you can use the higher-powered guns. Never, not once, have they returned bleeding. When I was a kid, we used to have BB gun wars with Crosman 760 rifles and M19 automatic machine pistols powered off of a 16 oz can of freon with a cyclic rate of 2,000 rounds per second. I know a guy, Heston Metterick, who in high school still had a BB under the skin of his knee from a BB gun battle in junior high. Nathan Rich, you and everyone else who says airsoft guns and pellets are weapons are a bunch of pansies. Try taking a thrown brick, a hurled frozen water bottle, a baseball bat, a sharpened PVC stake, or a bullet to the head or arm. Then you'll know what a freaking weapon is. What a bunch of wimps!

I live in Hong Kong and last year I saw bags of cash vouchers, protest maps, t-shirts and face masks being distributed. In fact, this isn't some underground thing, lots of people saw what was happening but only Bloomberg in the Western media covered it.
