Are you a self taught gardener? Do you have any favorite gardening books? I love your knowledge of edibles too. So, herb book recommendations would be welcome too 🙏

My understanding is that one can keep mulberry small buy keeping it pruned small or by growing it in a large planter.
A hedge that produces food = a Fedge!

Looks beautiful! I bet it will look absolutely amazing once everything fills in fully. Glad you were lucky enough to have access to such a nice piece of land

Good for you! I also just followed my intuition planting my food forest. It also is perfect for me. Yours is beautiful in its third year like mine. The evolution each year is so exciting. Keep growing 💕 Looking forward to future videos.

You can eat the annual honestly (moonwort) when it's younger. I harvest the second year stalks in early spring when they're tender; it cooks and tastes a lot like broccolini, and there's still plenty of flowers later on. And of course it's nice to get some vegetables that early in the season. You might want to give it a try. Around here (Maryland 7b) it also self-seeds prolifically, so you may not need to plant more.

I haven't seen very much about food forests in zones 6 and 7 so I appreciate you sharing all the details!

Always appreciate the garden tours, very well done with tons of varieties growing on. The garden is turning into magic.

I’m so happy to see a good forest in my grow zone! Seems like everyone lives in the northeast or Florida!

I just bought some land with the intention of creating a food forest. You’ve got a new subscriber!

You’ve got me realizing my herb layer game is weak. 😭

A few things you should try growing that I did not see in your tour:
maypop,
sea buckthorn,
goumi,
che,
osoberry,
buffalo currant,
silver buffaloberry,
nagoonberry,
serviceberry,
medlar,
quince

Looks tons better than an oil refinery or a nuclear power plant.

Maybe your mystery plant is a chokeberry?

A big issue in PA is Butterfly bush is creeping up in the wild. I see it along the roads. I also have found morning glories taking over fields. I often see non native grasses everywhere also. Not saying dig your Butterfly bush out, but in the present and future I wish nurseries would sell better options. I planted a spice bush in the fall, and Anise Hyssop, which are native plants in my state. I'm so excited for them to mature. I have a ginormous cluster of Rose of Sharon bushes along the edge if my yard. Eventually they may be chopped down and replaced with something native, but I do see many pollinators digging in to the pollen every year so they're very purposeful still.

Thank you for sharing. It is beautiful! I'm glad you told us that you made it intuitively. I'm just starting in a bit overwhelmed so that really helped me

The bush behind the bench is an Aronia.
