i almost got the 8 when my iPhone 12 Mini buggered up. But I found someone on eBay selling the SE 2020 for £180 new so i went with it instead... was an absolute STEAL for the price! I find even the SE 2020 is starting to slow own now but I think it could be my battery as it's about to go below 90% on the health. I believe the 8 may get 1 or even TWO more years of support due to the HUGE jump from the A10 to the A11 chipset. It may be an old device but I'm certain that most slowdowns in older iPhones from the A11, 12 and 13 are down to poor optimisation and crap batteries rather than the chips being old, they're still really powerful an perfectly capable chips, just more power hungry

The ram is genuinely its biggest bottleneck. I had to use my old iphone 8 for 2 weeks while my 13PM had to be replaced under warranty (camera issues). The iphone 8 simply had difficulties keeping up with just 3-4 app (I am a purchaser, so I check shopping apps for cross ref prices). It just kept crashing when im trying to swap between apps and Notes. Usable yes, but its really limited by its ram now.

I have been using it since 2020 and just gotta say the battery is trash and it lags nowadays a lot like really a lot

i like it , sometime freezes until i lock and unlock with new update, but besides that and my battery is running prolly not the best bit not too bad either, its a valid phone for now tho

Mine has the back glass shattered (holding everything together with clear tape) battery don’t last a day but everything else work fine. Upgrading Finally this year to the 15. And my my iPad Pro 2017 is still running. Time to replace it too.

I’m glad the iPhone 8 is still getting updates. when I first bought it, it was boring and did not make much sales compared to the iPhone 7 , I even contemplated about getting the 7 bc of the glass back but I’m glad I did not now 6 years later it’s my longest lasting phone, have replaced the screen a few times with great quality after market screens for soo cheap and the back is cracked but I love it so much, still fast and overall a great build , honestly 100% usable phone in 2023
