I never believed in the fat positivity movement because it promotes toxic behaviors for the obese. As an obese person I have spent years trying to lose weight and am now down almost 100 lbs. I have another over 100lbs to go.

Yea being fat doesn't invalidate what you say, being fat and trying to tell people that it's healthy however does.

I don't think it's anything wrong with showing that it's okay to simply exist in your body no matter the size. Nobody should be shamed for their body size. And ofc unhealthy lifestyles shouldn't be promoted (like overeating, drinking, smoking etc), bur nothing good comes out of making people feel mentally bad about their bodies. We can encourage healthy lifestyles without looking down on people who are fat. I guess that's not what the video is about(?), just putting my two cents out there.

How many of them were fat by choice and how many were told to just lose weight and their problems would go away? Fat is not always a choice sometimes it is a symptom of a bigger problem amd should be treated as such

I've lost two family members from obesity. My brothers wife was terribly obese. Died from not being able to walk, got a sore on her bottom that wouldn't heal because of diabetes. She passed from sepsis. My brothers daughter also was obese. Passed from diabetes at 45. My brother isn't obese, he's kind of on the small size . I to am small. So I wonder if it's partly hereditary. But still one can control how much they eat and what. I feel for my brother. First his wife then six months later his daughter. 😢

I take mental health meds that make me gain weight. I have tried victoza, and it keeps me from gaining, but it's always on back order. I don't choose to be fat. I am 58, and I need 2 knee replacements, so it's hard to exercise. What do you suggest so I'm not judged by you? I was always super skinny until my 40s when I found out I was bipolar. I take 9 pills a day for bipolar.

I spent a life time trying to lose weight I was literally starving myself, then I hit menopause and I dropped 50kilos in 18 months no diet, no exercise nothing, just fighting like I had been doing since puberty. Yep for all my life puberty was the cause of my weight gain, turns out the hormones that I was producing caused a certain type of cyst to grow which I had to have surgically removed every 18 months of my life. These cysts causes the body to turn everything into fat. But from the age of 9 years old when I hit puberty to 54 when I went into full menopause I suffered constant surgeries to remove these cysts which also caused my ovarian cancer as well as well as a heap of other medical issues. If I had done as the Drs wanted in my 20’s and had the whole package removed I would have gone into menopause then and I would have saved myself a life time of misery. But I like so many women wanted a family and as long as I could fall pregnant I would keep trying, I never made it past the first trimester 80% of the time the other 18% I made it through the 2nd trimester, only twice did I make it to within weeks of giving birth to a living child only to have them die.
If I could live my life again I will take the option of full removal of my ovaries and uterus. I would have saved myself a life time of weight gain and miscarriages and 2 still born babies. I will never be skinny like I was pre-puberty, but at least I now understand what happened to me was never my fault. I have gone from weighing 185kg down to 124kg I’m still losing weight but it’s slow and steady. But when some one comes up to me in the street to tell me how I can lose weight I tell the to 🖕🏽🖕🏽🖕🏽🖕🏽🖕🏽skinny people can be so arrogant in their stupidity of not considering people’s reality of their own lives.
Not all fat people are fat by stupidity of over eating, a very small percentage are over weight due to a hormone deficiency or imbalance. So when you see a woman who is over weight bite your tongue because you HAVE NO IDEA of the hell they are living through.

I actually think "validating" that's it's ok to be fat is actually very cruel to them. It could literally kill them. I'm a left-ish winger, and I think body positivity as well as fitness influencers are sometimes harmful. I think we shouldn't talk about other bodies, sure, because we do not know the struggle a person can be going through, but we cannot also say it's ok to be unhealthy (be it in whatever extreme there is to be)

My son is morbidly obese and not anywhere near as fast as these people. While it is true that being fat has a lot to do with your gut microbiome, and therefore may not be completely the fault of the fat person, "fat positivity" is very destructive and leads to a belief that trying to get healthy is not a worthy goal. This is so sad and ABSOLUTELY collateral damage of the "woke" agenda.
