I'm not supporting Natasha just because she's my namesake. But seriously—are the actors even educated? What she said is valid. A lot of people feel uneasy seeing Kenya portrayed like this. I mean, which average Kenyan teenager actually lives the kind of lifestyle those actors are showing?
Or, maybe we are not the target audience. Tuwache strory mingi?
Idk what tf that girl was talking about..that show is firee
ОтветитьAgain, 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
ОтветитьThe show is trash and now we know why.
ОтветитьAll i can say is if we want to have an internationally recognised film industry we need to be originally creative just like the way South Koreans were, i would rather watch netflix instead of MTV Shuga because they are better at what MTV shuga is trying to do.
ОтветитьEmbracing change for some folks is kinda uncomfortable,But hey lets see the bigger picture here! Kenya is taking a whole new direction in the film industry . This Film taking it to a whole new level And it's not gonna sit well with them peoples who used to the old ways of doing stuff. They slow buh will catch up soon. Keep doing the thing kenyan Actors. I loved every bit of it 🌬❤️
ОтветитьWakenya munapenda uchokozi 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 vioja mahakamani kwani ndo bad example ? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьResponse ya Wilson and makena was weak and unnecessary
Ответитьhio show ni fiti btw
ОтветитьI don’t know the Kenyan Gen Z scene, but I felt that it potrays the scene very well. Also, don’t forget the MTV Shuga franchise is a whole health promotion and education tool. Get you your information and be gone.
ОтветитьBryan Kabugi is the only G on the show 😎
ОтветитьI fully support Natasha. Shuga isn’t ati for entertainment alone, it’s supposed to reflect current social issues in the region. The show, in my opinion, took the westernised aspect of the previous shows, since that’s something that we did find very entertaining and new in the industry, but that’s all they’ve stuck to.
Nashi isn’t saying that having a westernised acting is wrong, she’s just saying that they picked the wrong show franchise to do it on. Alafu calling it Mashariki, yet it’s very “magharibi” is a bit …🤷🏽♀️
When you watch MTV Shuga Down South and Naija you can see that their culture speaks more than anything. This Shuga and the first two seasons that were also in Nairobi are the same but they reflect the real problem in Kenyan entertainment which is the lack of cultural identity. A touch of Swahili and Kamba dialect doesn't showcase our culture. This is probably why they never did an MTV Shuga in Kenya since the second season. Our cultural identity is an imitation of the West and therefore unrelatable to Africa as a whole. I suspect that the only reason they brought it back to Kenya is coz of the trending conversations of Gen Z vs The Political Class that has taken the world by storm. Our actors are average and the only good thing about the show is the graphic quality which we can thank MTV for. As Kenyans we need to accept that we are too westernized and instead of fighting that reality maybe we need to do some soul searching and find out where we lost track of our true culture.
ОтветитьIt wa shot at USIU ndio maana hatuwezi relate ni ya ma cool kids
ОтветитьI feel like the big elephant in the room is the characters dint match their roles, or was the energy just, I don't know maybe am wrong but it's Shuga it just needs to be top tier authentic. The expectations are high, okay.PERIOD
ОтветитьProduction quality and standards are advancing, no doubt. The handicap is our ability to write stories in a 'convincing' manner. When a show/film gets this much heat, the course of action is not an instant reaction but self reflection as to why critics are stressing on the cultural identity of this generation and those that come after.
ОтветитьKenyans will always have an opinion. We always see clueless fools on X giving their comments.
The filmmakers in Kenya are doing a good thing.
From my perspective, Shuga is clearly aiming to portray a version of the "Kenyan reality," which is commendable. However, the series would be much more grabby if it was character-driven. Right now, I feel the stakes in each storyline feel a bit light, and the characters’ goals aren't compelling or urgent enough to fully draw me in. Sure, the show prioritizes important themes like health, relationships, and social issues etc but those themes are best communicated through strong character arcs. It’s the personal journeys, choices, and consequences that build the theme. Not the other way around. When the story is led by the characters rather than the themes themselves, the impact becomes much stronger and I guess more relatable because in each episode I should be like "I couldv'e done this" or "this guy makes really stupid decisions...etc" That said, no shade at all. This season is definitely a step in the right direction. With just a bit more depth in character motivation and clearer stakes, the series can really level up its emotional and social impact
ОтветитьNaskia sample ya Typical Ft. Lyrical Erico & Shanky Radics - Bambika...
