Priceless - the first in-video ad on this was for a similar device from another maker.

My wife bought one of these a while back and it is toyish, and slow.
You pretty much have to run it from your phone, so for 20 minutes or whatever your burning time runs... your phone is tied up.
Her's did not overheat and the detail was... okay.

If you want a good quality, laser engraver... look at a Glowforge.
It has a built in camera, WITH compensating focal point recognition, and bed size is somethjing like 11"x17" off the top of my head... don't hold me to that.
Starts at something like 3K.
Depending on the size of your wallet, there are actual pass-thru options for larger projects..... but it it like 10k Canadian, so this would NOT be a good drunk Amazon purchase, or a "my wife wanted a toy to say busy..." purchase.

Glowforge is 10x the machine, but also 10x the price.
And you'll need to clear the ins and outs with converting image formats, editing, ect in order to really get your money's worth.

No mention of eye protection the biggest problem

aren't engraving lasers usually formed to a wide parallel beam and then focused to a point? that way you can change its ray path with mirrors without damaging them or anything outside the focal point as the energy density is low

Dude, idk about FCC but all the other certificates you can get in 15 min or even less, since you can self certificate your product just by writing down Declaration of Conformity. It's legal for CE

All else aside, a choo choo train on its way to a birthday party is pretty cool.

When its tilted it would look like a projected image on a tilted screen. The only way it could be done well would be to put a line or string to make sure it's at the right distance.

Bill Herd (former Commodore employee) actually knows how to obtain FCC certificate, as he got one for Commodore C128.
You cannot change anything in product after getting FCC certificate or you need to obtain new FCC certificate
And I doubt anybody would like to either eat or drink or use as drug laser engraver so FDA certification is at least redundant, at most unachievable (as it is not something you ingest)

Your battery bank point wasn't super correct. If it one from 5 years ago the maybe it's 0.5-1A, but every single one I own can output at least 1A, most 2.4A though. Also have one that has USB-C PD, which i believe is 25W

Yay! Kickstarter made a move and IS CANCELING ALL CUBIO PLEDGES THAT DON"T INCLUDE THE SHIELD. Also they are required to change their video to only show the enclosed version. This project is dead.. This was crazy! Freaking trying to sell an unshielded laser to the general public..
