The AI is rising and taking jobs and they are putting the blame on people! Terminating people contracts by telling lies... I am pretty sure her performance was top notch but AI does her job in less time and doing equally good probably... and tech companies move to AI for lots of positions. This mass job terminations will just accelerate more and more. Just watch and see. In 10 years AI will take over %50 of the jobs that exists today.

Companies have no feelings, why do people have feelings about this? Nobody gets mad at a stone for being cold, why get mad at a company? Conversely, why get attached emotionally to an inanimate legal concept like a corporation? This whole channel puzzles me

Huge “Office Space” vibes… also, huge Veronica / Janet vibes.
And the “Up in the Air” movie, as well..

Corporations are, on the whole, pretty garbage employers… their way of positioning themselves as “we care about you!” to get the most loyalty and work out of employees, when no actual care exists beyond how a person rates on some spreadsheets, is disgusting.
Anything even remotely human expressed by corporate entities while attempting to attract and retain employees is just a cold, calculated honey pot…

For the most part, it has been my experience that corporations are, at their root, essentially psychopaths in that they are incapable of valuing anything but that which benefits themselves.
They have no compunction about using any- and everything they know about human psychology to squeeze employees dry, and even less compunction about discarding them once they’ve extracted what they needed.

I was laid off last week, but at least they told me it had nothing to do with performance. However, my boss asked me what I needed- “a month, 2 weeks?” I told him as much as he can give me being that I live alone, pay $2500/mo for rent (the going rate in Northern VA) and will be left with no income and no health insurance. He said he would get me at least two weeks. The next day I emailed him to ask when my last day would be. He said he was waiting to hear HR’s decision. I emailed HR a couple of days later to discuss the specifics of health insurance and 401k and she start explaining and casually mentioned my last day would be the 14th. I said “oh is that my last day?” She said “yes, has Ben not communicated that to you?” I said “he said he was waiting for your decision. That has nothing to do with me. He told me before he met with you that the 14th would be your last day”. He had told me he would get me through at least the 18th (which would have been two weeks) . He had also started of the meeting with “I always want to be honest.” Then he lied to my face. Then he avoided me because he knew I’d keep asking until HR called him and told him they spoke to me. Then he said they’d pay me through the 14th (yesterday) but I didn’t have to come in Monday. Gee, thanks for the one day severance. I loved that job and never expected the layoff or the back stabbing. I am extremely shocked, hurt and scared. I’m 58, a divorcee after 26 years of marriage, raised 4 kids working part time while they were in school and, despite my degree, had to clean houses for 3 years starting at age 47. This was the first job I got where I felt smart, appreciated and loved my work. Now it’s gone and I’m back to square one.

American companies have the most selfish and greedy CEOs and the way companies are set up and will lie to its employees is probably the worst form of inhumanity towards people in my opinion.

HR wanted me to sign a paper in return for a positive recommendation letter. I told HR rep. a recommendation from this company would be detrimental to getting hired. The manager sitting in as a witness spontaneously burst out laughing.
Never argue or fight for a job. Smile, tell them to go F-themsleves and walk out.
The real pain is losing out time spent around the work friends you have made.
Any body who feels bad about a layoff needs to study corporate law. Corporate has one purpose and that is too
legally isolate the owner/owners from moral. ethical, financial responsibility. So don't try to find integrity is a giant organization built of scum.
Corporation is about lies, its that simple. Its built around a broken relationship due to scum employees lying about scum managers for centuries, now you walk in and you are not going to change it.

Why do layoffs sometimes appear or seem to be conducted like someone is being fired. I have had colleagues get laid off but they were treated very negative when getting the news like they were being fired. A layoff shouldn’t feel that personal. I find that odd.

I am an HR person and I can tell they are full of anxiety and are just bumbling. They don’t even know how to talk. They need to be better rehearsed on these sorts of things and be directed to the point. I really dislike these kinds of HR people because they are being very deceptive.

I'm wondering something else. Can an argument be made to say that her initial hiring was not made in good faith? To barely make it out of the ramp up phase and to get fired for allegedly your performance 2 weeks later doesn't make any sense. I agree with your comment also about whoever did the work force plan here should be held accountable.

I wish she had managed an even more poignant gotcha moment, "Given the layoffs of recent hires, lack of honesty or at least transparency about the reasons why, why would anyone ever consider coming to work for Cloudfire in the future??"
It's been my experience that HR managers are people sidelined after failing in another career path.

I bet the company's monitoring online activity, keystrokes etc above managements level and dropping the hammer on remote workers that aren't measuring up against those in the office. It's part of the cutting back remote workers plan. The problem is that when people are in the office, a good percentage of the time spent in front of a keyboard is mindlessly clicking about, something that most just don't do at home. In the end the same amount of work is being done, there's just less time wasted at home. Companies don't want it broadcasted to their workers that big brother's watching, so they can't openly disclose that they're monitoring activity at that level.

I'm sorry but being let go after 90 days is nothing compared to being somewhere for years. I go into every job knowing they don't have to keep you after 90 days and then after that, they can let you go anytime. It's messed up, but there is no point to argue it. She is very confrontational and gave them great reason to ice her out during the conversation. This girl just needs to go seek an attorney, write some letters or move tf on. This was hard to watch because she keeps wanting to argue. What exactly does she expect to accomplish asking the same question over and over again. To point out job hopping. SHE WAS THERE 3 MF MONTHS! 😅 She doesn't need to even put it on her resume as far as I'm concerned. She chose this route. Good luck with who will hire her next.

Side note...be careful with the step of seeking an attorney. I did that after being laid off from a 13 year job and ended up with no severance which was approx 16k. The law firm was told I voided it by not signing in time, but I did prior to the point no agreement could be made. Even a lawyer can drop the ball. I had to dip into my 401k and frankly haven't bounced back since and it's been almost 10 years. Lol jobs don't care about you. Prepare for everything. Period.

I understand why you say we need a side hustle. But, I work one job on salary seven days a week 7 to 14 hours a day. I do not get paid any overtime whatsoever. I have no repercussions for the expectations. When am I supposed to Have time for a side hustle? I’m able to live comfortably and save money. But I don’t have any ability to go on a vacation. I have to get my job done, which requires me working well over 60 hours a week. How do people do it? Maybe I just need some coaching, but I always thought putting for your best effort and accomplishing goals constantly was what your job wanted you to do so that you could make money and live. However, when you do well, they assign you more tasks. I haven’t seen a lickof extra money. Can I apply for overtime? Should I really need a second job or side hustle when I work seven days a week for one company?

It has never been legal anywhere on this planet for an employer to terminate any employee for no reason nor is it legal for an employer to make false statements regarding termination.
