SPOTLIGHT exhibits highlight work by new Alberta Craft Council members and members producing experimental work.
Bask in the breathtaking landscapes of Edmonton fibre artist Deanne Underwood. Learn more about her process, concepts and journey as a fibre artist in this short interview with Jill Nuckles.
Deanne Underwood draws inspiration from the spectacular landscape that surrounds her – the prairies and mountain ranges of Western Canada. Using wool as a medium, she applies a combination of needle and wet felting techniques to craft artwork saturated with colour and energy. Her dimensional felt paintings are created by layering and texturizing fiber, and the finished works are often mounted in vintage or reclaimed frames.
This Wide Open Sky will be available at the Alberta Craft Gallery & Shop - Calgary until May 20, 2023.
