Is anyone fooled by the grasping and corrupt rulings of this court, which has been punishing Catalonia for the past seven years? The Spanish fish is rotting from the head.

Right, let's talk democracy. Doesn't democracy imply respect to law stemming from citizen sovereignty? On which principles should a country's educational system be based, on indoctrination since childhood? What about the media, is it okay to grant public funding to media tied to bodies of the executive power? Is it democratic to manipulate the media for political ends? And is it even possible to negotiate with someone who only wants to enforce his own goals? Economical strangulation, gang stalking, social pressure, school and workplace bullying and harassment - isn't all that violence, Catalonia?

Seeking independence on the basis of a referendum that had less then 50% participation is not a bright idea. Better to calm heads down and talk about constitutional reform. For instance turning Spain into a federation.

Prime Minister Rajoy will not Allow Spain to be Partitioned into Two Countries. Spain will be Part of CORE EUROPE. There will be 10 European Countries that Comprise the HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE. The Spirit of Late Dictator Francisco Franco is Alive and Well moving throughout Spain.

I see a lot of mixed opinions but the truth of the matter is everyone knows Catalona wants to be independent there is no need for referendum anymore. the only reason it's not happening is that then El pais Vasco would surely call for a referendum and leave (i reckon this will in turn trigger a series of independence referendums across many countries), this would simply leave Spain broke(er) than it already is as it loses its two greatest assets. I personally believe in Catalan independence a lot of people mention the US constitution but realistically Spain was bound by dictatorship and after Franco's death non of the borders or independence sentiment was considered and the government simply implemented a series of Democratic votes. The situation in Spain is not comparable to America where there is no long lasting tradition or even regional languages (not dialects). This part of Spain was always pro independence since it unified in 1516 and then when the civil war of 1936 broke out Catalonia almost unanimously fought for the communist side.

Cataluña is always in Spain and our King Felipe loves Spain and the spanish people, our king always loves united Spain, democracy, security and prosperity for spanish people, the king has said on TV that Cataluña always belongs and forms part of Spain and hopes this difficul trouble finishs very soon. Many people are not independent and don' t hate Spain and hopes the dangerous and revolutionary independent people are out of Spain or in prision if this people follows protesting, damaging the people feels Spanish and the police does not damage or hurt anybody, the policemen don' t hope fighting or hit nobody, they only hope the people don' t insulte or push people or to them too. Spanish people ot others places of Spain is surprised and amazing with this injustice and very sad trouble. Spain is my country and very proud of being Spanish woman. MANY PEOPLE OF SPAIN IS PROUD, HAPPY AND ADMIRES SPAIN, OUR COUNTRY AND CATALUÑA WILL NEVER BE INDEPENDENT. SPAIN IS UNITED. VIVA THE KING AND SPAIN.

The Netherlands established freedom from Spanish rule (which was met with violence and repression from Spain) 400 YEARS ago.!! Why can´t the Catalans in 2017 have their freedom? And why is this brutal, awful violence against defenceless old people (in the best fascist tradition) not condemned by the EU? I thought te EU was about basic human rights, but it all appears to be a great lie.

Both of them don't understand this: Entire Earth > Catalonia > Spain current state. If you go far out enough into space and look back, it's one "pale blue dot" as Carl Sagan put it beautifully. We are all in this together, we all share the same MRCA and their country was the entire Earth and so are we.

Por example here you have said 90% people voted yes to independence, but not that only 30% of the catalan population voted, as you can think Who has not voted probably would have voted no, so jugde it for you selfes and dont believe everything it is said in tv

Their democratic vote is against the law but their police attacking the people isn't. Yeah I'm not on Spain's side, if they'd gone about it differently than maybe, I'm just not a big fan of governments acting like thugs when they don't get their way (although that is a trend in the west at the moment).

A country that went to bed as a harsh fascist dictatorship with 250.000 political assasinations, including the entire Catalan governtment, during 40 years of Franco's ruling and woke up next day as a democracy, is set for failure.
It is also disturbing how Mr. Tajini, the far right president of the European Parliament is also putting off with poor excuses and banning Catalan leaders to speak in the European parliament.
This is another dangerous behaviour, and a massive push on the already powerfull Euro schepticism thinking.
