Susie Moloney
Dr Susie Moloney is the Executive Director, Centre for Just Places at Jesuit Social Services, established with support from the Gandel Foundation and the Victorian Government, to enable and support place-based approaches to addressing social and ecological justice issues through research, collaboration, engagement and knowledge exchange.
Before her current role, Susie was Associate Professor in Sustainability and Urban Planning at RMIT University. She brings over twenty years of experience working across a wide range of research and policy projects focusing on social and governance change, local empowerment processes and resilience and climate justice issues. Susie and her team at the Centre for Just Places are committed to working collaboratively and inclusively with a range of partners and communities to support and co-design solutions that strengthen place-based capabilities and resilience.
Georgie Somerset
Georgie Somerset is a rural industry leader and strategist with a background in regional development across Australia. Based in Queensland’s South Burnett, she is actively involved in the operation of the family beef business.
She has board experience across the not-for-profit, government and industry sectors as General President of AgForce Queensland Farmers, a Director of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland section), the RFDS Foundation, the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, and (most importantly for today’s discussion) as Chair of the Red Earth Community Foundation. She serves on advisory committees for regional development, tertiary institutions, industry and community groups.
Georgie is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation and the Institute for Resilient Regions.
