Take A Ride On Swale: NYC's Floating Food Forest

Absolutely stunning idea. So much respect and admiration for such a beautiful creation. I'm 43 and get a huge buzz from growing fruit and vegetables so for a child with virtually no access to a space like this, let alone fresh food must be so exhilarating and so good for for their souls. Cities are brutal places to try and exist. This slice of paradise is the perfect medicine to stop those precious young souls from getting too tough too quick.

Someone should just email Whole Foods so they can grow a store in Bronx, problem solved

How does it do during winter?

Imagine a floating food forest on a barge, a la "Swale" in New York City, except it traverses the entire length of the Mississippi over the course of each calendar year, timing it so that it's at the Gulf of Mexico during the winter solstice, so that anything can be grown there. It distributes free or cheap food and free or cheap propagants everywhere it goes.
