Haven't played GBFV since vanilla, but Galleon looks super cool as far as grapplers go. You usually don't get a lotta visual variety in the archetype outside of wrestlers or judo practitioners.

Tekken fans are a whiny bunch. But this right now is a "cry wolf" situation.
EVO Japan was only hype because its storyline was Knee somehow rising up to the occasion literally as the underdog against not only the newer generation, but the entire T8 system and game direction, and still winning because his top 1 defensive fundamentals turned out to be better than other player's in this busted ass system nobody really figured out yet. Players like Ulsan who rely more on movement, offensive pokes and counter hits (much like Arslan who couldn't make it this time) lost against simple, busted, 5-attacks characters like Mugold's Claudio.
But for regular players the game is a hellscape and if things stayed that way it would have shone through in the competitive scene soon enough...

Maybe I've spent too much time in actual saunas, but I've attended all six Evo Japans and never felt it to be noticeably hot. It's definitely not aggressively cooled to the point where it probably should be for this size, and onto the warm side of the warm-cool tipping point, but I sat in there for hours and never thought that it was distractingly uncomfortable. However, I've also never attended Evo Vegas, where I presume AC in July in Nevada is an omnipresent logistical requirement. That said, I do wish they could go back to the Jan-Feb schedule that Evo Japan used to have pre-hiatus. That made it much easier to combo Evo Japan with Sapporo Snow Festival.

That audio engineer is probably checking the system, not the mic. He knows the mic works, but the acoustics probably suck so much that everything said would be incomprehensible if not for system tuning

The seating situation made me leave early on the friday. I had pretty low expectations for my first evo, but I thought I'd at least be able to sit down and watch games. Going to watch Granblue and there is just 1 person in the entire seating area and the crowd huddled at the back was hella stupid.

Someone on twitter offered Gobou the leaked build so he could play her early and Gobou was like "It's very sad someone like you is playing the same game as me. Please never talk to me again"

You lost me on the sound check story. "After 20 seconds, you know the mic works". That's not what he's checking for, at all, and he's also doing his job, and it's pretty difficult. Idk if you even thought about it for a second, but no one likes to ah ah into a mic for an hour just in their spare time. That could give you a clue that maybe you don't know something about sound in a big venue.

I was sure that this whole T8S2 fiasco wouldn't matter in the long run. Much like SFV, it would have a rocky and unsure start, and the game would end pretty solid with T9 being really good all around. But the more this situation develops the less sure I am of that. I've never seen a streak of poor decisions this huge. Not only Fahk was the "Abigail" choice for a DLC character, they even went and said "hey guys, the color hints at the character" and decided that BLUE was a good representation of the character with red dust effects, red tatoos and red aura inspired on Baki the Grappler, a series whose entire motif is red ... It's like Bandai hired someone named "Goblin of Infinite Chaos" for game director and put him in charge of the second season.

As a Tekken casual I actually really liked Fahkumrams Tekken 7 reveal. The trailer was so sick and playing with my friends he didn't feel broken at all cause we all suck. But this looks lackluster.

The fact that you haven't ever seen a game promise 5 balance patches in a row as content should tell you at least the Tekken players might have at least a little merit in what they're bitchin' about.

Being a live audio tech myself, I cannot fathom what would've motivated that kind of sound checking non-stop for an hour. If there was some kind of issue with the signal only going through the house and not feeding into some other output it was supposed to be reaching or something like that, I get continuing to troubleshoot it, but you don't need to constantly send through the house to do that. Maaaybe he was in contact with someone who was walking through the venue making sure it was audible in all parts of the building or something but that still seems like...that just shouldn't take that long, or be that constant. I'm really curious about what was going on there.

I wasn’t surprised at the skin choices for the Overwatch thing. Capcom only does merch and collabs with SF2 characters, except for Juri. Meanwhile Blizzard cannot resist adding multiple skins for Juno and Kiriko every season and in most of the collabs.

i've only played VF through Like a Dragon games and i've had a lot of fun from them there. i haven't played other VF games but i'm excited for the new VF cuz of RGG being behind it. that and their Project Century game looks really exciting too

First take away I get from Evo Japan is that, from the minutia to the selection of the venue itself, the event planners were grossly incompetent and underprepared.

Hesitant to admit I'm one of the like 7 people who actually likes Fahkumram and was fine with the announcement...

But anyways, I'm saying it because it's his release that made me realize the perennial whining of the Tekken community. Even the disaster of Season 2 doesn't excuse this degenerate purgatory of complaints and negativity.

holy fk getting tired of the entire tekken fans are whiny spiel. they practically ruined the game in its entirety, what tf else is there to talk about in tekken apart from that? the dlc sucks, the shop sucks, the balance sucks, the gameplay sucks if you're gonna talk about tekken you're gonna be talking about it sucking.

I can't speak for the whole Tekken community but I've been a casual enjoyer of all the games since T4. I fall in that bracket of age 30 now, and even with T8 how it is, I still play it.
But idk if it's fair to make such a blatantly semi-ageist comment like that, even if it's true. Maybe I'm just concerned for the fact that had I made a comment like that, I'd be getting crucified for it. Maybe I mildly resent it because I'm in that age group. Perhaps the times we live in now made me more sensitive to those types of comments, I can't tell you for sure. I think more of why Tekken players complained over time needs further examination. Can't all have been for nothing, surely, right?

This was the first time I participated in a tournament outside of region (norcal). I play granblue and when I came into the venue there were TWO (2) casual setups right next to TWO (2) strive cadual setups. Thankfully there WAS ac pointing directly at exactly where those setups were. When I went to play my pools it was awful. The PS5s were so hot my brooks adapter was hot when I took it out. I could not go into the granblue stream seating because we had to have a spectator ticket and there was literally THREE(3) PEOPLE SITTING THERE. I've only been to Slashback so going from Slashback to EVOJP was super jarring.

Nobody of Fahk haters mentions that he was bottom 5, and some of the top level players considered him even the worst character in the game by the end of Tekken 7. Search for definite tier lists for T7 from pro players, you can find them easily, and there is one by Knee who put him at bottom 4. Every other move or string of his was launch punishable on block. He had only one low that was -2, all other lows where launched punishable. And guys, one very important thing, Fahkumram fights standing, his tall and big, and thus bad SS/SW (but he had amazing KBD). There was no high-crush, mid-crush BS with this guy. And was very weak against pressure. He had i12 d2 that served as panic button (just like dick jab but being unparryable elbow), and to do dick jab, you had to press db+1, because he had d1 input already assigned to other move.

I've been playing Tekken since T2. Online Tekken fans have been insufferable for as long as patches and fixes have been introduced.
AND as someone who likes Bruce and Muay Thai characters in general, next to no one cared about him until Fahkumram came along.

People say parry would be overpowered if throw loops didn't exist but Chun-li is in the game without a throw loop and the character isn't ruined and hard countered by it. It's s a silly argument when it already exists in the game and it works fine.
