Update: Some conflicting information about compatibility. On the product page for the boost lens it states compatibility for Action 5 Pro, but there was a firmware update adding support for the Action 4. Product page has not yet been update to reflect this.
ОтветитьGreat video! Are there nd filters for this lens?
Ответитьaction 4 and action 5 both have pretty wide fov even without the boost lens only thing that lacks is focal range if dji releases a lens that makes the focal range around 35-50mm it will be an instant hit.
Ответитьsold out :(
ОтветитьFinally they added support for OA4, just waiting the lens available to order 😂
ОтветитьIts looks bad with boost lens like looking though a fish bowl.
ОтветитьThe DJI Osmo Action offers excellent performance in a compact, rugged design, making it one of the best action cameras available in its class. It's packed with features that appeal to both casual vloggers and more serious outdoor enthusiasts. With crisp 4K video, impressive stabilization , and a front-facing screen, it competes directly with other action cameras. And works perfectly with the IdolFoto or Ulanzi accessory,
Ответитьit is now compatible with the action 4.
ОтветитьThe FOV boost lens is not working with ND filter, right?
ОтветитьCan you use the lens with horizon balancing/steady on? Is it cropped in a ton similar to without the lens or is wider like a GoPro wide angle lens with horizon lock? Thanks
ОтветитьSo you cannot do HorizonBalancing with ultra wide view? That was the only reason I was waiting for that lens...
ОтветитьDam, if anything the native fov is already too wide, and the crop modes make the image so noisy. Would have preferred a focal reducer
ОтветитьWould need an ND filter set that fits it to make it useable in nearly all outdoor settings.
ОтветитьCompared to GoPro Max Lens, DJI Boost Lens does nothing useful, unless they could support 4k60fps horizontal lock.
ОтветитьI was hoping the boost lens would allow for horizon lock (360 degrees) similar to GoPro with wide lens mod. Instead, it seems to be limited to 45 degrees still (Horizon steady), interesting. Thx for the review.
Ответитьthis is exactly what i need, since the horizon balancing crops the image a fair bit this should be able to retrieve some of the cropped out area
ОтветитьThanks for the review -- you saved me from buying this and then returning it. I don't see enough of a difference to justify using this, even under limited scenarios.
ОтветитьIn fact, these cameras need an additional zoom lens that would allow you to shoot not only yourself, but also something else without getting close to the subject. These cameras already have a very wide angle out of the box.
ОтветитьWhat we really need is a close focus distance lens that gives us a focus distance from 5 to about 30 cm.
ОтветитьLooks awful.
Ответитьgood vid
ОтветитьNot really a fan of it, just added too much distortion with things like the trees. The original lens on ultra wide is more than enough. This just seems to be an item that just isn’t needed for the majority of users.
ОтветитьStill waiting for this to be in stock
ОтветитьToo wide and fishy for me.
ОтветитьAny idea when this will be released in the U.S? I know other countries have been able to order it for a while but I’ve been waiting for weeks for the opportunity to order one.
ОтветитьThat's awesome! I'm super happy with my Action5 but I'll definitely get the boost lens. It seems just perfect for mtb pov shots.
ОтветитьOnce again great review ! Thank you .
ОтветитьHow did you remove the protective lens on your Action 5 Pro? I’m having a really hard time trying to open it. Can you share how you did it?
And I also noticed in your video there’s no jitter even when you make aggressive movements. On my Action 5 Pro, I’m getting some jitter. How did you eliminate that?
Why was the color so dfferent between lenses?
ОтветитьWill work with action 4?
ОтветитьWhat does it look like versus putting it in boost mode without the lens and putting in boost mode with the lens? I was using it lately on boost mode with no lens and it was wider. Thanks for the video.
ОтветитьDoes this work on action 4😮
ОтветитьToo me the gain in FOV is marginal and not worth the distortion and big chunk of scratch-able glass added to the camera.
ОтветитьMy action 4 has just received an update that allows the use of this lens and many other watch-related sports features.
ОтветитьHi, thanks for your time. Is there a PL lens for the Osmo Action 5 that keeps the waterproofness intact?
ОтветитьIn my opinion there's too much distortion and degraded image quality. But for some people it may be useful. Thanks for the review!
ОтветитьIt appears that the boost lens reduces the color saturation.
ОтветитьI have no use for these extra wide FOV lens, but I'm sure many folks do. Nice review Shawn, I didn't know these were available already. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьDoes it work with action 4?
ОтветитьIs this a preview of what's to come with their 360 degree camera? I hope so!
ОтветитьDJI does it again. Thanks for the content.
ОтветитьHi shawn, great video again, could you do a video where you mount the camera at the front wheel axle facing back to see if it fits eveything in with the boost lens? As in you the rider and the terrain you're riding through in the frame. This will be the deciding factor for me getting one👍🏽
ОтветитьGreat video no American link for amazon for boost lens
ОтветитьI ordered this as soon as it appeared on the DJI store - they then asked me to cancel my order 2 weeks later as they don't have any !!!!
Ответитьwith FOV boost lens or not, Osmo Action 5's FOV is already enough for my MTB trail adventures. Always looking forward on watching your videos Shawn, keep it up!
ОтветитьVery good review Shawn
ОтветитьHi I want to buy this lens but is not available. Where did you find to purchase?
ОтветитьI don't own an action camer & will probably never have a use for one but I still enjoy watching your videos.
