Bruh I live in Canada there is snow 2/3 of the year, just because there is snow doesn't mean it's a Christmas movie, it doesn't even feel like a Christmas movie it feels normal.

Eyes Wide Shut is my favorite christmas movie! I guess it's unconventionally a Christmas movie because even though it all takes place around Christmas, it also revolves around sex, and features a masquerade themed orgy and implies a random incestuous relationship, as well as infidelity as an inciting incident. So yeah... not your typical Christmas movie.

I think a movie (like Lethal Weapon) can be set at/around Christmastime without being a christmas movie. It's not that much more specific or meaningful than setting it in summer. Although maybe you guys in the northern hemisphere see it differently.

Wake in Fright is my favorite Christmas movie because it is basically the story of a guy getting drunk at the end of the year to forget the shitty life he is living and promising himself the next year will be better. But he is trapped in his routine and when the next year begins, he is still drunk and living in his hole in the middle of the outback.

Simply being set at Christmas does not make it a Christmas movie IMHO. The main focus of the story has to be directly related to Christmas or to those tropes that are considered specific only to the holiday season. These include Santa, Reindeer, Elves, the Christian Messiah birth story, Christmas gifts and the giving and receiving of them, etc. Family and food are too broad as concepts to be specifically Christmas related.
