Watch nerds have known that “Swiss” watches have always had or entirely made in China. The problem is that Rolex fed the people with the illusion that theirs is not. This actually shows you something more than watches, that is the east and west are two separate and distinct people that neither side will accept each other. The east will accept the west’s money but never their culture and vice versa. Had they farmed out their parts within Europe this would not have been an issue, even if it is Chinese immigrants that work on it as in Italy.

Meanwhile Chines watches are getting far better. For a few hundred bucks you can get a tourbillon that actually works pretty good. That's a fraction of the price for a Swiss version.

For Rolex to be able to put SWISS MADE on its watches, 60% of its value must come from Switzerland. The Marketing and Packaging covers that. Some parts are Swiss made and sent to China to assemble the watches. Technically and Lawfully Rolex is not breaking the law by having SWISS MADE on their watch faces.

Please cite the case style as a preliminary search does not produce any instance where Downey has filed a case against Rolex or Rolex USA in California.....if a citation can not be produced, this video should be removed

To be fair on the CEO, most brands source from Asia. Why? Because its simply cheaper to manufacture. It may be finished elsewhere, but it is no surprise that parts are sourced as cheap as possible.

This isn't just a Rolex problem, it's a Switzerland problem. The Swiss government blew it. They should have legislated that in order to qualify for the "Swiss Made" label, the watch must be 100% made and assembled in Switzerland. Watchmaking isn't rocket science. Instead, Switzerland opened the floodgates of doubt when they required that "Swiss Made" only be 60% made in Switzerland. This is a problem that Rolex and Switzerland created. It's a problem that only Rolex and Switzerland can solve. Rolex suing Chinese manufacturers will only make matters worse. Rolex must suck it up, admit their mistakes, and correct them.

China can make good watches. It's not rocket science.

An NH35 movement of Seiko design runs about $55. Made in various countries it powers watches in the $120 to $250 range. An Addiesdive field watch was on sale for $93.
You don't clean and repair them,but the movement can be replaced cheaply.
If you invested $10k in safe stock you could replace the watch indefinitely and not pay for a Rolex service. $300 to $800,plus parts.

At least Casio is real.. I am moving to Japanese watches. Europeans have always been liars, and at least Japanese people always like to be excellent in what they do. Very disappointing, very disappointing indeed. Rolex is depending on us not to believe what's being said.

I have been researching and Google says every component of a Rolex timepiece is meticulously crafted and rigorously examined in specialised facilities located throughout Switzerland: Geneva, Bienne, Plan-les-Ouates, and Chene-Bourg.

The United States, much less California has ANY jurisdiction over Switzerland. California is so egotistical, that they might file a case, but Rolex could tell them to eat a dick.

Japan has similar rules regarding content, but they at least have letters in the serial number that tell you where a watch is made. For sure, Grand Seiko is pure japanese, because the jpanese wont cheat japanese customers, and for a long time only japanese bought grand seiko. Seiko have factories in Singapore, Malaysia and China for their mass produced watches, but a quick search of the code will tell you where a movement is made. They dont hide it.
