I remember listening to this track as the opening titles rolled. I was speechless, i wanted to keep listening to the over and over, and i did not want the film to ever begin.

Sensitive, melancholic, lovely, magical, emotional and touching movie score , heartfeltly composed with longing and conflict.Outstanding.

Pity how they cut out the shaving scene where he realities Lord Darlington is a Fascist sympathizer , and the other one where he finally realities his sacrifice and possible wasted life. Lovely music. Was he really in love with her ?

I used to sneak downstairs at night when I was in high school, lay flat on my face with the headphones over my ears and put on this track and drift away through the sound and get totally lost in it. It was like meditating or the euphoria of a rave. Brings me back.

The world was rushing headlong into the greatest mass killing in history. The palpable onward rush of events is beyond the control and beyond the comprehension of servants who forsook personal fulfillment for the warmth & protection of existence in a great house. There's a great sense of anticipation in this music by Richard Robbins.

This movie never palls on me and so will be this background music and the brilliant work of crews associated with it.

Lovely memories of that bygone era, which could now only be recollected with a heavy sigh. The circumstance which prevented saying and doing things at the right time. At a later stage, filling up with remorse on realizing your inability to go back to the past and set things right. And now with that heavy feelings in the heart, trying to look forward to the remaining future that lies ahead.

c est un film que j ai vu au moins 25 fois en 30 ans ,avec le temps on ne voit pas pas le film de la meme facon il est comme un grand vin de bordeaux il se bonifie avec le temps ,le jeu des 2 acteurs est epoustouflant et leur interpretation et pour moi un grand cri d amour silencieux dont les echos resonneront a toujours dans mon coeur .

Just finished watching it the second time. A real treat to the eyes, the heart, and the soul. With its heart-wrenchingly sensitive music, the great standards of acting showing characters torn between desire and duty, and the dazzling display of splendour, it takes you to the highest levels of creative endevour.
