The Biafo glacier is almost 60 kilometers in length joins the Hisper Pass at 5151 meters. Sort of composing the largest glacier network apart from the North Pole region. This massive ice river links the vast Baltistan with the famous Hunza Valley. it is said to have been the access way for the warriors from Hunza attack the Baltistan village of Askole subsequently this conflict converted into a rather rival sport "polo" game. This is a local word meaning a ball. this game was played on the horse back and the rival matches was played on an even grounds known polo ground between the two kingdoms the polo ground which normally exists almost in ever town and villages of Gilgit Baltistan and still being played.

The Biafo glacier is the geographically the vast glacier inhibited by wildlife such as markhor, snow leopard in 1937 there was a strange revelation by an English adventurer who claimed to has seen the"yetti" the huge humanoid gorilla during his trek of the area. There is a snow lake spreading over an area of some 16 kilometers at the eastern flank of the Hisper Pass located by a granite pinnacle. this pinnacle is the focal point of adventures to be climbed some days ahead. According to a glaciogeological survey it is discovered that the base of the nearby lake is some 1.6 kilometer thick deep down the crust layer.
