Looks fun, but I don't like the Jason Bourne angle of this. Seems to miss the whole point of GitS.

I love how they have the name of one of the head concept artists for the film on the building at start, that's kick ass

It's a shame the story had to change so much from the excellent manga movie. This feels like a revenge movie. Which misses the point completely.

Way to spoil the great depth of philosophical content in ghost in the shell by pasting some sophomoric bullshit hollywood revenge on the people who made me story over top of it. Fuck off.

Congratulations, you managed to take an amazing story and turn it into a stupid revenge plot that's as deep as a kiddie pool.

I do not like the new backstory or this new version of the future. Cyberyzation is commonplace in GitS, that's the basis of the shows entire social commentary. The major is one of the most proficient prosthetic users, but she is far from being the only one. The major received a full prosthetic body at a very young age after a plane crash as part of a standard medical procedure, not a government conspiracy. This feels like they are using the GitS title to help publicity for a movie that will have little respect for the original content.

for the haters...fund and produce your own version if you think you can do better... (my guess is that you can't or never had the intention of ever doing so) remember that ANY iteration of an anime translated to live action is going to look this way, and after the Matrix that was a given... and also remember this film is aimed at the widest demographic possible and not specifically at the anime aficionado who knows just how deep this story goes...for what it's worth, i like the look of this trailer, and the franchise this is based on...i'm willing to give this a chance...hating for the sake of hate is not productive especially if you are not willing to prove you have the ability to surpass what is being presented.

Jesus not only did this trailer shoe the entirety of the movie in 2 minutes they changed Major's character entirely. She's not some independent woman superhero. They just took an amazing franchise like Ghost in the Shell and turned it into another action movie with sci-fi elements. This series has a massive fan base for a reason, because it's just that fucking good, you didn't have to rework the plot concepts entirely!

I think I need to watch the original series, if I can find it.

Manipulating the Major is definitely the hard possible thing to do in the GITS universe, she's definitely not the pawn of whoever hacked her this week, on top of that the whole story seems to already be laid out in front of us.

What the fuck? There's one scene from the original movie in here it seems like the rest is just made up as they went along? Ghost in the Shell is a great series and it pains me to see them butcher it in this way.

am i the only person thats bugged very badly by the lack of the goggles and head part of the optical camo, i mean i get it, you got a actress and you want to show off her face, but really there isnt enough screen time to do that.

Haven't watch the anime, but you should have excluded the "everything they told you was a lie," and all the other crap that spoils a good twist.

It looks gorgeous. Some very pretty CGI.
But white girl playing Kusanagi scared me a year ago, and this trailer is making me more skeptical. I want it to be legendary, but I suspect I am going to be disappointed.
Still hoping for "decent", and less like Robocop than this trailer makes it sound.

the anime movie was amazing. this looks nothing like 1995

Two things:

1.) Don't jump to assumptions based on a trailer. Many a good trailer has fooled people into watching a shitty movie, the reverse can apply too. Don't buy into hype, don't buy into backlash, just watch the damn thing and judge for yourself.

2.) The Major already exists as three different characters: the original Masamune Shirow creation (comics/movies), the Stand Alone Complex character, and the Arise character. Characters with different (if similar) backgrounds, and different character development through their respective series. Assuming this version of the character is bad just because it's different is, well, fucking retarded.

Nice spoiling the whole fucking movie! The first trailer looked so promising and now this bullshit. I want deep dialogues and philosophy and not Robocop with boobs.

This looks like the biggest waste of time since Dragonball Evolution. Way to completely miss the purpose of Ghost in the Shell, and completely fail to grasp even the most basic tenants of Motoko's personality.

I watched GitS and Puppet Master storyline was completely undercooked. The heavy themes were not just heavy, they were exposition heavy. It didn't feel like a movie at times but an educational video. Let Hollywood do its magic.

Those human eyes too! Batou's eyes is great but Major eyes should be more lifeless.

This doesn't look like ghost in the shell at all. It is terrible representation of the Major.

I'll just watch it as an alternate Fanfiction movie. I think we all knew, they were going to adjust it to Hollywood.They wanted to add mor depth to Motoko's character but changed her completely from a smart, analytic and responsible section 9 leader questioning the difference between cyborgs and humans to a simple minded, naive boob runner with the intention to kill and take revenge? Anime Motoko would have arrested Live action Motoko for that attempt. u_u

looks better than expected ....Thou im afraid of how this trailer explained almost the entire movie, and how looks like a superhero movie ... (pretty much like; "The Adventures of Cyborg Black Widow").
I dont expect to this move be a copy of the original GTS, in fact i have no expectations it all to avoid dissapointment ..... But in the past i watched movies expecting nothing, and even then, the dissapointed me ...... Really hope to see something good

As per usual, the art department of this movie worked hard as balls to make a proper homage to the series, and the screenwritters decided: "fuck it, let's ruin the original plot".

She better not blink.... If she blinks in the first 20 minutes I'm walking out.....

You know it does seem that the art department and the script department are on two different wavelengths. One has vision and busts their ass to bring a compelling interesting story.

While the other just throw something up the wall and hope it sticks. I mean seriously when you don't have decent source material to work with I can understand that. But this isn't one of those instances.

GIAS is one of the better Syfy properties out there. It has huge potential but not without a competent director, cast, script and art direction. At least it seems one of those four has been met. Let's just work on the other three. :)

As a huge GiTS fan I like it so far.
It looks like a mix of manga, movies and TV series so I'm interested how well it would stick together.
