RAM 5.7 HEMI Vs RAM 3.6 V6!

Everyone hating on the V6 should probably educate themselves. The 1st generation RAM had 2 6 cylinder options and the most powerful V8 produced a whopping 175HP. Go back and learn your automotive history before you talk smack. Using the V8 over V6 reasoning everyone gives also means - "Why a gas engine and not a diesel? Nobody wants to hear a gasoline truck buzzing down the highway" - The V6 sounds good, doesn't sound like a Honda and doesn't sound like a 'fart can' on a small 4 cylinder.

All this said, in my opinion the 5.7 is one of the best sounding engines. The 3.6 Pentastar is also a good sounding engine though.

The 3.6 puts out more HP per liter, its more fuel efficient, less maintenance and maintenance cost. It will do anything most people need.

its funny how everyone is hating on the V6 not even doing any research on it.The pentastar v6 is one of the best engines you can get fuel efficient over 300hp and with a 3.55 rear end can tow over 7k witch is more than enough for a full size truck. i have had both a hemi and the v6 in my trucks and would pick the v6 any day.Doing snow removal with the v6 has saved tons on gas vs the hemi but the sound of the v8 is better in my opinion.

Only thing I hate about my V6 is that it’ll never sound as good as a V8. Everything else I love. Reliability and gas mileage make the truck worth owning if you don’t have to tow anything. It’s a city truck/road trip truck. Not a heavy hauler. Can haul a quad/dirt bikes/motorcycle with ease and what I use it for. Plus getting 950km per tank in the city and 1100km on the highway isn’t so bad haha

Down the road if I ever gotta tow heavier I’ll upgrade to a diesel. Know way too many people with the hemi who can’t wait to get rid of it cuz of all the problems.

my first thought was its a 3.6 217 pentastar. my second thought was why would you pay to try to make your truck sound like a v8 with a muffler? because you obviously cannot keep up when everyone takes off.

I’ve owned both, as a matter of fact, I’ve owned 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with the 5.9, probably the best, and fastest engine you could buy in a jeep or truck until 2015. I’ve owned a 1500 with the 5.7 hemi, and I am currently driving a 2017 with the v-6. Guess what, I’ll take the 3.6 any day over the 5.7. With a pedal commander, it’s just as quick as a 5.7, but I get to keep my gas mileage. True I can’t tow as much, but I didn’t buy the truck for towing campers or trailers, I bought it for the bed, and to tow the family around in the spacious quad cab. The 5.7 just drank gas, especially pulling a 40 foot trailer! But man, I do miss my 5.9 98 jeep! That thing was a beast!

As a owner of a 2001 ram and a 2013 ram both both new. And except for the pos dash in my 2001 still looks like new. No way in hell would I own any full size truck without a V8. I don't care if you spend 3k on a exhaust for any 6 cylinder it will always sound like a import. On both my rams I have headers true dual exhaust and Flow masters super 44'S sounds absolutely perfect. I did not buy my rams for gas mileage, if I wanted gas mileage I would have bought a Tacoma and would have never changed the exhaust on any 4 or 6 cylinder. Both my rams will smoke the tires all day long and sound great doing it. But if the 6 cylinder makes you happy that's great but I would have still bought a Tacoma over that ram.
