Ok sorry i always do struggle with this tho, how do you go from having lineart to having almost a painterly looking linework, it looks almost as if there arent any lines. I've been trying to understand for a while and have been struggling with it myself a lot 😓

I wish there was a way to save shorts so I could reference them later.

My notes:
1. Sketch
2. Clean lines (fix that's wrong with your sketch)
3. Flat colors (add layers)
4. Local Colors (add gradients)
5. Shadow (light direction,use multiply)
6. Highlight ( put in middle and do screen mode, and use complementary colors- opposite)
7. Over paint (new layers to make your portrait really pop)

I do digital art and there is so much more than just telling people how to do shadowing etc. You actually have to learn how to use the app (I use Procreate), the different settings and brushes for different effects, etc. You showed us only the surface of what to do. Would like to see your tutorials a little more in depth on how to use the digital art app settings/brushes as well.

What program are u using to draw?

I usually use the symmetry tool to draw because I draw my characters facing the front with their full face showing, so it makes it easier for me. Recently I've been trying to do shading with different shades instead of just black. Would shading look weird for characters that are just facing straight forward, or is there a certain position you would recommend for shading?
