Might help to visualise the braking more if your weren’t covering it 100% of the time! For what purpose when there are no perceived hazards is beyond me.

I am a subscriber , This is a great video.. I caution you & anyone going 80-111mph or very fast when there is a group of RV,s park on the side of the road- pets/kids/people that might dart in the road.

At the beginning and the first fast left hand bend you accelerated to some 94 mph. rounding that bend. Is that a legal speed on that particular road and should you be using hat speed anyway to take bends at?.

Ответить
@rcraven1013
@rcraven1013 - 04.02.2025 13:55

On a following left hand bend there is a recommended speed limit of some 35 mph. I know this is not mandatory but its still a State recommended speed and is there for our safety and the safety of all other road users. for The reason its there is known to the authorities but unknown to us or we are just don't care or cannot be bothered by it. You totally disregarded that sign and approached at over 70 mph and slowed to 55 taking the bend some 20 mph faster than that recommendation and then accelerated. Is that the way one should ride under those circumstances.

I know you are showing the taking of bends at higher speed but by doing so are you are doing a disservice to bikers. Perhaps to the vast majority that don't want or need to travel as fast as you are showing. So you appear to be pandering to a small minority of your following, of thrill seekers or adrenal junkies.. .Riders that perhaps you should be enticing to slow down on your roads and thus be safer rather than go faster round bends.

The stats for deaths and serious injuries on the roads in the USA are quite severe as some over 5000 deaths are recorded, many of them on bends. That is without any encouragement or enabling videos for others to see and be encouraged to continue to ride in such a fast manner.

When you downshift, it doesn’t look like your blipping the throttle. Is that because you have a quick shifter? I find trying to rev match on downshifts while braking really tricky.

How much rear brake are you using?? Any? Or just front ?

Sorry for the silly question. Just finished my cycle class and now have my endorsement.

I’m 53 and grew up on dirt bikes since I was 13.

Bought a new BMW 900GSA two months ago and haven’t even ridden it !! Haha

I did not ride it because of the no endorsement and I know me!! If I would have took it around the block, then I would have three times and then straight to the street.

There’s a proper way to do things and I’ve always believed that. Great videos by the way!! Super informative.

Headed out Saturday to a high school parking lot and just practice what I learned in the basic class and learn my bike. Her name is Joanne, after my Polish Grandma. She always took care of me as a kid; should now as well.

Great vids but again any rear brake in this video? Thanks for any response

The reason why everyone keeps asking you if your speedometer is in MPH or Kmh is the US is literally one of the only countries left in the world (apart from some areas in the UK still, but even that is dying out) that still insists on using the outdated Imperial system. I have relatives in the US and visit often and it never ceases to amaze me how many people that live in the US kind of forget there is a great big world out there beyond the USA... 🤣 many in the US kind of forget that the world doesn't revolve around the US only! In fact, there are more people outside the US than in the US in the whole world 🤣You guys are the outlier when it comes to MPH and Kmh... THAT'S why people keep asking you. Your content is terrific and has taught me so much. Craig - Australia

Hands down, the most valuable lesson on trail braking. Even though I'm enrolled in ChampU and have reviewed their modules on trail braking several times, watching your hand working the brake and throttle while seeing the road ahead made it all "click". 👍

Love all your videos I have seen so far. Just got back into riding after almost a 30 year break from riding, mostly on dirt bikes and now on a F900 GSA so your videos are a huge help in getting my skills up and helping me reduce risk on the road which means they are helping me be a tad bit safer out there. Appreciate it. One thing I would add to have on if you can when doing a lot of corners especially ones you are not familiar with is to have a GPS up and running. This will give you nice little heads up about curves and how sharp they might be. That has helped me a lot when coming up to sharp curves. Just gives me a few moments to process before I actually hit the curve.

The issue I have been running into is that when I let off the throttle, the bike slows way down. When have applied the brake gently, I find that I have to give throttle to complete the corner. I’m still trying to figure this whole thing out. I commute to work 36 mile one way on a very twisty highway on the coast in Oregon. I would love feedback if possible.
