Hifumi was the romance I wanted the most from the base game but I never got to play it until Royal came out then I went for Sumire. It's not a game I'd have energy to do multiple playthroughs for so I wanted to see what the outcome was like here and I'm quite pleased. I wish Hifumi got a larger role in the game, would've been great.

Is it weird to think that I felt Hifumi had the strongest connection to Ren in terms of who he should date? Sure, the cutscenes constantly pitch him with Makoto but...thats really it with them. With Hifumi, you could definitely see something there

She is probably the most underrated romantic Confidant in the game. Not my first choice, but still, I was surprised at how memorable she was.

Was listening to a Penguinz0 podcast, Charlie mentioned his favorite persona 5 girl is Hifumi so I came to see what the hype was about and stuff. I remember he said something like “Hifumi for life baby”

My Hifumi Romance story in P5:

I was a contact partner of Mishima in helping him find potential leads for the Phantom Thieves' next target after after Kamoshida, when I met Hifumi Togo one day.

I met Hifumi at a church practicing Shogi that day. I was a soccer player before I became Mishima's contact partner in "Phan-Site" business with him, so I already had the charm requirements needed to introduce myself to Hifumi that day. I've gotten her attention when Hifumi met me, and we agreed to play shogi in frequent visits to practice new moves for her. This is the beginning of my relationship with Hifumi when I aquatinted her.

I was only an acquaintance in my early visits to Hifumi, to honor my agreement with her to improve her shogi skills. I was a novice in playing Shogi when I've met Hifumi, but she taught me how to play the game as good as the 'Shogi Queen' could. I later found out why Hifumi loved shogi so much, along with why her mother was deliberately fixing matches that upset her daughter, but Hifumi cannot fight her mother in that regard. When I found that out, I deduced Hifumi's mother as a possible target for the Phantom Thieves. I contacted Mishima about this regard, and he relayed my information back to the Phantom Theives regarding Hifumi's mother as their next target in the Metaverse.

I once used a similar method to bring Kamoshida to justice on my own, by leaking evidence of his crimes via my cell phone to proper authorities. This resulted in Kamoshida's arrest, which nobody except Mishima learned the circumstances of afterwards. Mishima thanked me for my actions then, and I've been his friend as a result ever since he recruited me as his contact partner to help the phantom thieves find the main group's next target after Kamoshida.

I later helped Hifumi from similar circumstances as when I met Mishima when I helped the phantom theives force her mother's change of heart to stop the fixed matches for her daughter, as me as Mishima's contact partner. As a result on my next visit to Hifumi, she told me her mother stopped fixing matches, and deduced I was a phantom thief since I was the only one she spoken of her mother. I said yes I am a phantom thief to Hifumi in that regard, even if that was not exactly true for me in reality. So Hifumi invited me to watch her first professional Shogi Match.

Hifumi lost her first professional match by a landslide. However, she was happy with challenging opponents at their fullest strength in her matches. She starting over as an amateur rather than being treated like a idol after her first professional match. I gave her this possibility, and so I became romantically involved with Hifumi afterwards. My first date with Hifumi was on the Christmas event, where I invited her to my room to watch the snow falling from my sky together. I've then had two more dates with Hifumi following the Christmas event, when she gave me farewell gifts and finally confessed her love for me for my actions. She then asked me to be her boyfriend on the Valentines Day event, and I accepted her as my female partner that day. I later gave her flowers on my on White Day, where Hifumi and I officially became couples on a romantic evening together that day.

At the end of P5's story, Mishima became my best friend of all the male characters in the story, while Hifumi became my girlfriend of all the female characters. I became honored to be Hifumi's man as her boyfriend, as I still promised her to help her fulfill her dream to become a professional Shogi player like her father. Hifumi had eventually gone to her next professional match which I could not join her in at the epilogue of P5's story. Before departing ways with me however, Hifumi said farewell to me, then took me to a secluded area from prying eyes and kissed me with no witnesses in the process. Hifumi then thanked me for everything I did for her, and that I will always be her Shogi partner and will not allow a redo in her falling in love with me as a couple, which I agreed with. Hifumi then parted ways with me while blushing on her face in moving on with her life. I then moved on with my life as well at the epilogue of P5's story, with meeting a new romance interest I've never had before and never cheated on her along the way.

As a hopeless romantic myself, I find the idea of a romantic relationship with a girl from another school, kept in total secret fromt he rest of the thieves, as a total win. Like Joker could be dating Hifumi and no one could really suspect because they never really see her. Exciting thought, no?
