Seems like all of the guys were of the same mind as Audie Murphy.
When asked why he did what he did he said: they were killing my friends. It was kill or be killed.
Under those circumstances it’s understandable that a man will do what he must.
All heroes in my book.

My father and I were real estate developers and one of our site supervisors had been in WWll, as a combat infantryman (he fought in France amongst other places), and we would frequently have lunch together with some other employees.

He said that in his experience the first time he actually killed someone was with a bayonet (his squad/platoon, whatever, was clearing house to house and it happened very fast and the experience really left him shaken; but, he added that after that first time killing another enemy combatant didn’t ever bother him again…
Just saying.

War is a form of human wickedness that we have a duty to tackle head on. There is enough stuff for everyone. We just have to learn to distribute it evenly.

Looking for anyone who might know my grandfather Albert Tuley Air Force fought everything went by the name of Jim everyone called him. Originally from Rochester NY. He was a gunner in the back of the planes because he was very short. He was involved in a lot of stuff that I really don't know but had a Aunt who was able to get his private information and got in big trouble. I read it but I'll go to my grave with it. I'm terminally ill disabled and pretty much bedridden and I'm done with the way America has turned out I'm not saying anything bad about the government. It's hard to explain something that I don't understand but it's torcher and I'm sound mind and body never done drugs but drank until I stopped 31 years ago. So please don't forget the elders and help them and believe them please don't think they are crazy. I'm dealing with a horrible experience right now and have been for 6 years that I know about. Can't say what I want and I lived a wonderful life raised my son alone but now I found myself alone and I have been for years no problem until I found out something. I've come to the point that the more help you ask for I'm going to find myself in the nut house as people call them and their real . God bless everyone and the true American, Amen

I am a 54 y/o german and I am glad to see that these interviews of old verterans are all about the same in the end: war sucks. Weather the german verterans or the US verterans are talking without any hate in their minds about the enemys of that time. This is remarkable and amazing actually. Just too bad that the survivors leave us one by one.

Sad thing is Eisenhower told us that the military industrial complex wanted war not for the good of humanity, but to make money. This guy was used by corporations and elites to make Money. They could care less about Jews or Hitler, they just wanted money and power, and this good man along with every person who had to go to war had to suffer for it.

Back again! After watching this video I kinda come to the same conclusion about war. Why. An innocent kid is thrust into a full-on war zone & instructed to kill that young enemy soldier over there. Meanwhile, a "older" person in power is creating this mess. Why. Yet, we just stand by & watch it happen. 😢

Some wars were and are justified. We wouldn't stomach or be able to win one if perpetrated on us today. Our armed forces have been decimated with cry babies and panty waists.

God bless these men and women who made it possible to speak my mind.
