On March 8th, Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities & Social Sciences had the privilege of hosting a captivating talk titled "Iqbal and Ghalib in the Iranian Sphere," presented by Dr. Ali Kavousi Nejad, an esteemed scholar in Urdu literature from the University of Tehran.

Dr. Kavousi's expertise in Urdu literature, particularly in the translations of Ghalib's Persian poetry and prose, as well as his studies in Iqbal's works, provided a rich backdrop for his discussion. Having completed his PhD in Urdu literature from the University of the Punjab in 2014, Dr. Kavousi brought a wealth of knowledge and insight to the table.

The talk centered on the scholarship and reception of Iqbal and Ghalib's works in Iran. Dr. Kavousi provided a comprehensive overview of the appreciation of Iqbal's poetry during the Iranian Revolution, highlighting its significance in the socio-political context of the time.
