It occurs to me that if science really wants to “get people on board,” that it should reform some of its vocabulary. I mean, eve putting aside the whole “theory” thing, there ‘s this word, “prediction.” (Ugh!) It’s just asking to be misunderstood. Instead (and for whatever my suggestion is worth) I think scientists should change that word to “extrapolation”—as if to say, “*Extrapolation* of the data tells us that some day, we will find/find/discover….”
