At about 20-25 minutes into the sermon, I have inquiry. The argument pastor Nolan makes by appealing to the lack of the definite article in (Acts 8:15-17, and Acts 19:1-7) is an argument of inference. It seems to be a presupposition pastor Nolan has when he comes to these passages. His suggestion is - because these passages lack the article it must be referring to the “gifts of the Spirit” (or as he asserts - the “attributes”).

Regarding pastor Nolan’s assertion concerning the absence of the article, I would note that the article (looking at the Greek text) appears to also be absent in (Romans 8:9)- a text pastor Nolan appealed to in his sermon as proof of receiving the Holy Spirit at the moment of Salvation. Pastor Nolan’s assertion suggests that the absence of the article indicates the “attributes of the Spirit” and not necessarily the identity of the Spirit. Would pastor Nolan assume that (Romans 8:9) is referring to the “attributes” or gifts of the Spirit rather than the person or identity of the Holy Spirit?

Pastor Nolan why do you preach out of different BIBLES I've seen videos where you preach out of at least 3 different BIBLES so are they all the word of GOD or do you choose one depending on what you you happen to be preaching about?

You’re just hair splitting. Jesus breathed on the apostles and they received the Holy Soirit. John 29:22 and the same Jesus told them to wait for the baptism of the Holy Spirit Acts 1:5.

I'm really confused. I watch a lot of Pastor Alan. In some messages he stares the bible is the word of God. We are to believe it. Trust it. Live it. In other messages we aren't to believe it because it has "bad translations" or in this message, he says the translator purposely translates it bad because they want you to believe the way they do. Do we believe the Bible or don't we? And how do we know what and what not to believe?

Well I think that if the Bible is not translated properly from Greek to English we can stop reading the Bible it is of no use 😢

Holy Spirit is a Person, why do we say the Holy Spirit, same as the Father, who we actually address as Father.

Well thought i was christain but son committed subside and I don't know if went to heaven Jesus didn't raise him up from grave like it says christian could do. I am very confused.

In scripture it is very clear that the spiritual gifts(receiving the H.S.) were given only at the hands of the apostles. No one was ever commanded to pray for the gifts or to believe for the gifts. In Acts 8 Peter and John had to physically go to Samaria to lay hands on the new converts in order for them to "receive" the Spirit. Philip had taught them the gospel and could work miracles but even he could not impart to them the Spirit. Also called falling on them or not falling on them. In the 1st part of the book of Romans Paul wants to come to Rome to impart a gift to the members there through his hands. Timothy had his gift through the laying on of Paul's hands. WHerever the Apostles went they imparted the Spirit through the laying on of hands.If you have a verse that says another way to receive the gifts please let me know. Not opinion just scripture thanks.

Is it not that the gifts are given according to grace according to Romans 12:6-8......And is it that once the Holy Spirit indwells a believer that person has the whole package....just not activated sometimes because of lack of faith or laziness......

Thanks Pastor Allen, I totally agree, up until now when I had any discussion with Cessationist's I would just tell them that when the Perfect has come could only refer to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ at His second coming, because only He is perfect! Praise the Lord!

How do we receive the baptism of the holy spirit?

Would first like to say,God bless you, this is the only pastor I have watched over one time, that I feel is a true pastor, now when I say this,I mean that I have watched on a phone,I was saved at the age of 15,I am now 52, anyway I would like to know pastor Nolan's teaching on backsliding,or being saved and straying from the Lord??

I feel like this teaching is super close , but adding attributes seems like a cope? I wish it were true or hope it to be true but it seems to me that what the preacher teaches as receiving the attributes of the Holy Spirit is simply receiving the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Nolan, how do i become a missionary on your team? I've been saved for 14 years now, and i have a call to bring the word of salvation to the world, i just need someone to guide me and help me to preach, i need a mentor, u know anyone?? Were willing to leave the US and our home for as long as needed to become successful with the churches mission. Just point me in the right direction.

Disciples and believers are not the same.

I counted 3 baptisms in the story, Paul later wrote there is one baptism.
...having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise.
He , Jesus, did NOT go to Hell.
I am not a cessationist but absolutely most of the spiritual gift manifestations in the church today are not the Holy Spirit.

I love you. I been born- again saved by our Jesus Christ at home with my holy bible only. He saved me , in the year of 1978 at 27 on my earth birthday . I’m now going on 74 years of age.2025 soon. I been happy since growing, but. I share our Jesus Christ ever since. God gave this love to humans to any one’s. I love again listen to you. I love my Jesus Christ .

Before b. Once saved by the holy bible truth , accept ur Jesus Christ , you is baptize right then with the holy. Spirit. Then you can go water baptism ,I did young , from my parents.but not saved until I was 27 years old. Truth.

I don't know about the ministry gifts, Paul straight way taught Jesus.

And as far as receiving the Holy Spirit when u believed at the time of this questioning of receiving the Holy Spirit there was no certain way to be born again until Paul was given the understanding, and wrote it down for everyone.

Now we all receive the Holy Spirit the same way.

Not all believers speak in tongues the Bible says. So I received a word of wisdom one time, and a word of knowledge once. Never again. Does that mean I have those gifts? I never thought of it that way. I think God can say someting to anyone whenever he wants to. He even sends dreams to unbelievers when he wants to.

I just want to thank you so much for this sermon. It has brought so much peace and understanding through God’s word. This is the best explanation of God’s word that I have encountered, and it has no element of confusion in it.

If the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead is in everyone. Then everyone would be doing the same miracles Christ did! Pauls words are not true!

Pastor, once AGAIN I have learned from you! I am a Baptist and until I listened to this sermon I was a cessasionist. Even though I had been aware that I possessed the gift of discernment. During my working life I was a polygraph examiner and have obtained thousands of confessions to crimes ranging from petty theft to multiple murder. At times I was "told" by the Holy Spirit what I should say which would result in a suspect confessing. Thank you for your ministry!

So do you have to speak in tongues?To go to heaven.?

I was raised apostolic and Pentecostal and also church got a prophecy. And the Pentecostal’s in apostolic believe that you have to speak in tongues. Before you go to heaven or before you were saved. And I feel that it’s a gift. That’s why I asked do we have to speak in tongues?

This may sound silly, but I care very little for sermons, I can’t explain it, other than I literally fo not get anything from them, tus why Pastor Allen is one of my favorites Ive learned more about the Bible than I ever expected, I am not a good or strong reader, that said! by the time I finished 1 paragraph I have no idea what I have read, nor could I tell anyone what one word that was in said paragraph.. I find myself drawn to the verse by verse teachings.. PLEASE DONT STOP TEACHING IN THIS FASHION. I Thank You for teaching me & others like me

Thank you for the message brother. I am 77 and was raised in the church of God .I know exactly for you are talking about . Sometime we would have no sermon or reading of the word of God. Only shouting and speaking in tongues which i just got turned off by.
