Im a Dragon Ball fanboy since childhood and I dont get the appeal of this game. Difficulty and gameplay design is so bad that the most optimal way to play is to spam regular attack on sparking mode. The story cutscenes are a joke, if you can even call them cutscenes. Xenoverse 2 is better in that regard, not to mention Kakarot. Visuals and roster are fantastic but its ruined but frustratingly awful gameplay. Spike Chunsoft never made a good fighting game. This is just Jump Force 2.0.

I don’t think this dragon ball game is as popular as HD2. Steamdb shows that it has as high as 66k players during the last 24h and 122k at all time peak. For HD2 it’s 41k and 458k respectively. This game also drops its popularity faster than HD2 it seems.
