You MUST run Hakintosh on this thing. It will be the most pirate thing ever.
ОтветитьYou need to install the last great Intel version of OS X on that... 10.6 snow leopard.
ОтветитьI remember that monitor. I had the 15" version and it was beautiful. This one looks better than original and absolutely clean white. Its the perfect match for that case.
ОтветитьCool case. This video was awesome! And that last part with you pluggin in a CRT and running Starfield was epic. 🤘
ОтветитьThat's actually very good. Now, is it possible to fit anything new behind that dummy slot? Maybe an adaptor for additional, externally accessible storage, for example.
ОтветитьDidn’t know the Quadra 700 was so popular it got it’s own tribute. Cool!
I confess I did something sacrilegious and some years ago took a real Quadra 700 case and repurposed it to house modern components. So it now packs a 7800X3D and RTX 4070 Super. It was hard (but fun) to work out how to get everything to fit properly and then a real challenge to get it running (somewhat) cool and quiet since the case has very poor ventilation. From the outside it still looks like a Quadra 700 (apart from the back, obviously) and I’ve also retained the original speaker which will still beep. I also wanted to have an actual, operational floppy drive, but unfortunately that proved unfeasible.
It's a shame it wasn't made the same size as the original Quadra 700. To me, that kind of ruins the whole look. I mean, it looks... nice. But it would have been way cooler if it had been practically indistinguishable from the original.
ОтветитьThe disk drive indent could use a black pinstripe to perfect the finish
ОтветитьI would absolutely love to find a cherry condition Quadra 700 to actual use. I had a used one back in late 90s but had to sell it...
ОтветитьAH AH AH you didn’t say the magic word
ОтветитьSadly, I sent my Quadra 700 to recycling before the rise of vintage computing
ОтветитьScript: How silly is this
Sean: "It should say 'how awesome is this?' Hey! Cue card boy!"
cut to whiteboard Sean with panicked look
The feet really make the case!
ОтветитьCool Build !
ОтветитьSorry for the off-topic, but I don't know where else to ask and I have a question bugging me.
I have a Mac SE/30 (did I mention yet that I <3 it? Yeah, well, I <3 it).
Why , with sufficient OS upgrade, could it not do grayscale on the internal screen? The monitor itself should be capable of grayscale. Is it lack of dedicated video memory?
Very nice. Love Q700s. Though I wonder if the height the case doesn't have compared to the original would help at all... That, and I kind of want to see a IIsi case done like this.
ОтветитьYou are a genius
ОтветитьIt would be nice if it was the exact same size as a real Quadra 700
A smaller size replica is not as good.
I WANT ONE, I wana build one with a 32GB, ARM ITX board for an "Alternate platform machine".
Prolly gonna run twister OS.
New project noted.
FYI love the little Ubuntu jingle. lol
I understand the love for the Q700, but my dream Quadra was the 840av. I still have the full front bezel from the one I bought in 1997, which then died from lightening strike 3 months later. (Yes, it was surge protected, but no, the phone line wasn't... Insurance did end up paying out, but not til I'd bought myself a new computer... So then, I didn't really have a use for it, as the "av" features on the TAM were better. Ultimately the chassis rusted due to tropical living.)
Ответитьyay, shenanigans! \o/
ОтветитьAmazing!! He should have just made it full size 😂
ОтветитьWait, did that say FOUR of 15?!
That's amazing...
That case is gorgeous.
Wow, looks like they did a better job designing that case than many mini-itx manufacturers. While I don't think I'd pay for a limited run like this, I would love a more mass produced version to reduce prices. Though you know the quality would drop significantly.
ОтветитьThis would be a perfect machine on which to demo Hackintosh on Proxmox
ОтветитьThe case I'd like to build in is a later full tower cheese grater case, the one with the tighter openings.
ОтветитьI think you need the Asus VU249CFE-M beige monitor to complete the retro/modern setup :)
Once the 3D model is available (and I buy a 3D printer) I will print mine, such cool case!
Plot Twist: disassemble a Mac Studio, stuff it in the case, have a wild Quadra
ОтветитьAwesome
ОтветитьUbuntu after the song 📈
ОтветитьYou can also see these machines in the arcade version of Sega's Virtua Cop, on the third and final stage. Looks like Sega used a lot of these machines in their offices.
ОтветитьWow. But can it run Basilisk II ?
ОтветитьOkkkkay now I know what is going to be my gaming PC after my last Intel Mac becomes too slow. If somebody in here ever wants to do a run, you’ve got my $$$.
ОтветитьI don't think I've ever seen a ingestion warning on a motherboard box before
ОтветитьWhile of course I can't help but wonder how freaking expensive that very unique case (one of only 15 units produced) may have been, I suppose I should forget about that for a few minutes to fully appreciate how awesome that is.
ОтветитьLove this! ❤️
ОтветитьDamn that is a very nice case design!! Absolutely love it!
Gives me an idea that maybe I could modify some of my 3D models of some of my retro computers and convert them into mini ITX cases. I've got a highly detailed IBM AT case, at least everything you can see on the outside of the case. It would just need internals modelled out... Hmmmmm!
I need those 3D print files so badly oh my lord. Figuring out the dimensions for a full-size ITX board would make this a dream come true for me
ОтветитьNice
ОтветитьThat is freaking awesome.

ОтветитьHow is Apple not sueing them?
ОтветитьThe Apple Inspired Desktop Tower, never seen a well design one, until now! 😺👌🥰✨💎
ОтветитьMakes me wish I could do something with my quadra 630, alas to get the parts and a proper monitor and other supplies will be next to impossible I feel
ОтветитьThis is super neat. Genuinely kinda frustrated that no one makes a sorta 'Generic 90s retro looking beige box but in ITX for modern/modernish builds'. I just wanna make the MS-DOS Mini. :O
ОтветитьSo beautiful
ОтветитьWow That is a great tribute to the Macintosh Quadra 700 great Eye for detail
