Sarah so she still can’t let go of a conservative authoritarian values. You can watch the video and you can see what’s being done no matter what she says she’s wrong.

America is TRUMPS POLICE STATE , with unidentifiable Secret Police / Gestapo bearign NO personal identification much less BodyCams! Most bearing NO official departmental identification anywhere, completely masked up and armed and randomly attacking immigrants, americans, Senators, Comptrollers, who ask QUESTIONS, with little to no discretion,.. They claim to be moving on the MILLIONS of KNOWN criminals, rapists, murderers, who have INVADED america and are destroying the country.
Apparently they got all 500 of THOSE guys in the 1st mo. apparently there just aren't any more..?
Apparently there really was NO invasion of america by millions of murdering immigrants after all ?
So now they will just grab anyone who is brown. All while ignoring or actively downplaying the crimes of the white electorate.

Got it.

people in this comment section including jvl and tim are why voters feel the democratic party is disingenuous when propping themselves as the rule of law party. you can't make the claim that no one is above the law and act how senator padilla and comptroller lander did. the both received lawful orders to stop what they were doing. for padilla it meant stop making his towards the stage and to stop resisting security's commands. for lander it meant to releasing his grip on the illegal alien being detained and to stop obstructing and resisting the ice agents' commands. sarah is right, both of these incidents are heavily teetering on stunts. both had press conferences within hours of the events. padilla met and exchanged number with kristi noem minutes later and lander continues to go to immigration courts. he is absolutely looking to get arrested and wants to be arrested. also i love what sarah said about zohran, reframing intifada as struggle is insane and incredibly insulting to anyone who understands the history of israel and jewish people

Also want to chime in on Sarah in the sense I get where she's coming from as a former Republican - but her points now are wildly inaccurate and out-of-touch considering the GOP has long since shifted the Overton window regarding policing, and I have yet to see examples either locally or elsewhere in the US where police forces are not corrupt, politically biased, or apply unequal punishments or reactions to alleged criminal behavior.

I live in a red state, and my city literally violated my 4th amendment rights by searching my property when I was not even home. Legal fees fighting that cost more than the fines they 'awarded' me, so nothing came of it and they got exactly what they wanted

That acceptance by the people have just given our police forces the ability to violate the constitution daily and still be protected. This personally disgusts me as a naturally law-abiding person.

The mask aspect is absolutely unethical and shameful to me and I 100% believe it should be illegal. It also makes me wonder legally if me living in a 'stand your ground' state allows me to respond with force if unidentified 'agents' were to come to my house without a warrant.

The choice is only likely to be binary, and this is very important. Zohran does need a lot of people to rank him first, but he mostly just needs people to put him somewhere on their ballot, and above cuomo. If they're not the last two, that's great, but they probably will be. Ranked choice does give you more options to do something like put your actual favorite candidate first with minimal risk. I ranked him first, but myrie was on my ballot, too. That's the whole idea of ranking the slate. As long as people don't put cuomo high up, we've got lots of good, or at least perfectly fine, candidates.

Dems, take it from an Independent, the right wing has been brainwashed for 30 years to hate you—to regard you not as a fellow American—but as the enemy. Tailor your pushback and rhetoric with that understanding. Otherwise, you simply will continue to sound naive and weak. Trump thugs are roughing Dems up on purpose. It’s willful intimidation tactics. It’s a soft form of civil war. They don’t care about their hypocrisy. The gloves are off—Dems need to aggressively leverage the law to expose and punish this corruption. Fight, fight, fight.

Hi guys! 😊Long-term subscriber, just wanted to say thank you 🙏 so much for being among the very few left in our country who are able to have rational discussion and open conversation on the myriad dire issues we’re enduring under this rampant kakistocracy. Calm debate and reasonable disagreement is almost extinct in our society, and we need it more than ever now imho. You’re an oasis in the vast deserts of hysteria everywhere lately, and I am soothed by how you persist with grace and stubbornness to keep communication open. I for one am so grateful that you interview such a range of people; disagreement is normal, yet we seem to have devolved away from being able to handle it in civilized ways. I personally am probably much further left than any of you on most things, but I know that politics needs a spectrum of ideas and beliefs, which means healthy disagreement, for democracy to thrive. You are my go-to conservatives because you’ve earned my trust with your unflinching honesty and mutual respect for each other. Wishing you strength and deep peace in the days ahead; thank you 🙏 so much, for truly being the Bulwark we need. 💙❤🇺🇸

Cops need to be better trained, period. Like years of education training not months. Educate our law enforcement like they do in Europe, over years. Cops literally decide life or death in a split second. Unfortunately that decision isn't always the right one and can be permanent. They are there not serve as jury and/or judge either. Cops in the states are overly reactive and given more duties (like dealing with autistic or mentally ill people) than they are trained for as well, and they can lead to dire consequences as well. In general, cops think/act like they are above the law because consequences for cops are not as easily given and have a narrow window/strict requirements in order to do so. It's the whole tree, roots and all.

Another very professional law enforcement organization: US Coast Guard. They approach vessels with potentially violent people aboard and deescalate the situation in a tiny, confined space. My dad helped write the pursuit and boarding procedures for drugrunners in Florida in the eighties. They were going up against suspects with fully automated rail guns with just their side arms and a couple of rifles. The only time my dad EVER lost someone that wasn't an R&R mission, civilian or Guardsman? A cadet fell out of the rigging on the training vessel the USS Barque Eagle. Never during an arrest in a nearly thirty-year career.

Whenever I hear cops talking about "I thought he had a gun" in these situations, I wonder what kind of hair-trigger, fear-based training they're getting since, unlike Coast Guardsmen, they have the option to retreat! Deescalation was how my dad went twenty-eight years without ever pointing his weapon at someone. And he still brought in his fair share of drugrunners, gun smugglers, human traffickers, poachers, and drunk boaters.

I'm not sure I can listen anymore. If they can't understand why Mamdami is doing so well, it makes sense that they still don't understand why Trump won, twice.

Newsflash: The old GOP isn't coming back. The days of trickle down and unrestricted free trade deals is over. Because people hate them. Because they did not lead to widespread prosperity, they lead to the biggest wealth gap we've ever seen, including the Gilded Age.

Tim, JVL, and Sarah just seem like old dogs who can't learn new tricks. People want change. They don't want the same corrupt old politicians with the same demonstrated bad ideas that benefit their large donors. People are desperate for change so they take chances on the outsiders, like Trump, like Mamdami, and, as so many forget, like Obama.

I get it. You all are doing great. JVL is bbqing in the backyard of his brownstone and makes bank spouting off opinions. That's a nice life. Most people, most voters, aren't in that position. Most work and it doesn't really pay. The median home price used to be 2.5 times the median salary. Nowadays, it's between 5 and 7 times the median salary (and that's usually with two working adults). Why are young men all obsessed with bitcoin and Robinhood? Because they know that working isn't the path to prosperity in the economy that Reagan and neoliberal policies, the ones that the Bulwarkers love, have crafted.

Rather than spending a half hour insulting Mamdami, who might win, how about they criticize the bankrupt Dem establishment that put up Cuomo, who is still the odds on favorite, despite being an absolutely awful candidate who offers nothing but more of the same.

Can someone explain to me why the democratic party should listen to a bunch of consultants whose policies lost in the Republican party?

Do we all remember Trump wiping the floor with Republicans in the 2016 primary? And why? Because Reagan era policies left a whole lot of the working class behind, while enriching the venture capitalists and hedge funders, just like the old leftie democrats at the time said would happen.

And now, today, who do the Dems listen to? Is it those old lefty dems, who were right? Or is it Michael Steele and SE Cupp and the Bulwark, who championed all those bad ideas back then and still do today?
