Very interesting! Great insights here!
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьI like the exercise from mowing the lawn.
ОтветитьNever mow the lawn, my wife likes to do it. Just retired and this has been very useful.
ОтветитьInteresting video. While working I often kept track of how I was spending my time, how much time I was spending on various projects or tasks. I've recently thought I should do the same now while (recently) retired and see what surprises show up. This should inspire me to collect that data and take a look.
Ответить4 1/2 hours of TV a day? WGN Morning News. That's how much I watch at least before I put pants on and do anything.
ОтветитьHmmmm.interesting. too much TV that's for sure. I only watch about an hour a day if that. Mostly my days are consumed by the gym, meal preparation, play/listen to music, reading, podcasts, watching videos on investing like this one, and sleep. also I do some light house work, visit friends, spend time at the beach, etc.
ОтветитьYes I plan to cut my grass in retirement. Just retired in June, So far I've significantly increased my exercise time, and Church attendance. I thought I would get a daily nap but my wife and I are so busy with activities like fishing camping, arts and entertainment that I rarely get a nap.
ОтветитьMowing the lawn is one of the ways I plan on saving money in retirement. I've paid for it for the last 15 years, but figure I'll have time to do it in retirement.
ОтветитьI don't have one blade of grass on my 1.2 acre lot. It's all xeriscaped with native plants. Very low maintenace.
ОтветитьI don't own a TV and never will
ОтветитьProbably not getting accurate results when comparing anything to what we were all doing in 2021. Covid changed the world 2020-2022.
ОтветитьI mow my grass and because I live in rural Minnesota I plow my snow as well.
ОтветитьOur tv is PURPOSEFULLY in the family room in the basement, so we don’t have it right in front of us all day in the living room. If we decide to watch, it’s a conscious choice, not an unthinking habit.
ОтветитьTime and time management is a huge transition in retirement. Wife and I both went part time for 2 years before retiring, but we were 2 years apart.
PT helps some with the transition, but ultimately the pace after working is the biggest and best change.
We were professional Type A types. Always GOGO.
Now a much slower pace, which is 90% good and much healthier. The downside is that productivity is WAY less. We take way more time with every task. Enjoy the journey way more. Way more physical activity, enjoy cooking and meals, can linger and enjoy when that was never an option.
The major downside is not completing tasks as quickly as anticipated. So have to reset expectations.
Thanks for the great video!
Lost my wife too young at begin of pandemic. In evenings I play guitar or TV is on in background while i do finances/paperwork to keep me company.
During daytime in past month i redid my deck, driveway, cleaned roof, gutters, yard, washed and waxed by hand both vehicles. Starting some landscape next week and a garage floor project.
I don't have a gym membership.
Instead I walk and bust my tail to a daily sweat at 59 to keep in shape and make money by saving money and keep my property in tip top.
If i could just satisfy the needed social outlet, I'd be golden 😄
We outsourced mowing because the lawn is 4 acres and requires a big mower. Then bought Kindles and read more than ever in retirement. Writing and painting are also fulfilling for us. And TV, yes.
ОтветитьGreat content. Thank you!
ОтветитьI always said when you retire you have to fill 8 hours a day 40 hours a week. Your morning routines and evenings have always been in place. Most people don't work weekends so you always had those days off and would have plans for them. Enjoy your retirement.
ОтветитьHave already got a guy managing our lawn. That way we can go away for months during the summer. Will set up credit cards to auto pay our bills and all before each billing cycle and leave enough cash in checking to cover while we are traveling around. Then we don't need to log in while away so much to manage bills and what not. Have plenty we like to do. Have been easing into it already with several trips a year. About 1 a month or so. Looking to do more slow travel booking a month at a time at places so we can really get to know an area before moving on. Do more hiking while we are young enough to do so, I like camping both primitive just off trail somewhere and some glamping by rolling a vehicle into a paid site or what not for a few days. More time with family and friends, more game nights, cookouts, more learning like 1 or 2 languages to help in our travels. etc. You can't just sit around and watch TV all day. That will make any retirement very short.
ОтветитьJust 20 minutes a day golfing, fishing, hiking and touring new places! Where are hobbies like crafts, music lessons, or taking college courses for no other reason than it interests us? And where does travel and other time away from home fit? Visiting family and friends or seeing the world. I spend 8 hours a week visiting my daughter and doing things important to both of us. Where do we count that? I wonder if the categories are misrepresenting the details?
ОтветитьRetirement is not a good idea for me. First I love my job. Second, my belief is that retirement accelerates aging. There is evidence that having a job turns on longevity genes. I would miss the interaction with other people. Finally your status significantly drops. Lets face it , When one retires ones ability to contribute to society drastically lowers. Can anyone dispute this?
ОтветитьNo way I am sleeping 9 hours a day... Volunteerism will definitely increase.
ОтветитьI'm considering replacing the relatively small of grass I have with artificial.
ОтветитьEveryone's experience is different. My percentages look nothing like those in the video.
