Bro sounds like he's making it up as he goes
ОтветитьFYI, this isn't true. Rollo embraced Christianity and willingly learned the language. He also protected northern France and there was very little "abuse". This "professor" sells a good story, that's about it.
ОтветитьMore cobblers from a wandering mind
ОтветитьOh yeah, definitely! In fact every other ruler around looked and saw what they were doing, learning the language of the peasants to better abuse them, and decided 'heck I should do that too' and it became 'normal' from the frenchified word for the Norse 'Norman'.
And what's more normal than Norm walking into Cheers everyday.
Cliff Clavin was a psy op.
Aren't etymologies fun when you pretend.
Calling old Norse "a dialect of German" Would get you beaten up here
ОтветитьSocialist reinterpretation of history.
ОтветитьEven the normans didnt like french people.
ОтветитьYou lost me at "when they abuse the pasants"
Now I know you're just recycling old Marxist propaganda
So fukin interesting!
ОтветитьIm danishh, and i speak french..
ОтветитьIm viking..and herertic..😊
ОтветитьThis Profeesor Hump is one Smarty Pants Sonofagun
ОтветитьNo they were originally called Barbarians Germanians, Friesians just to name a few of the pre-european tribes. It's about time you all start teaching the truth about the indigenous people of the continent that was stolen and named Europe. And they were not speaking German. Back then there was no such thing as Germany. Germany is a bastardized name. Germany was not founded until 1874. Prior to 1874 Germany did not exist so they could not have been speaking German.
ОтветитьFrench being french before they're being called french, what a surprise 😂😂😂
ОтветитьThis guy spews rubbish. I hope the future generations are not taught this.
ОтветитьNonsense
Nobody ever adopted the language of any peasants
You can abuse peasants quote easily without understanding a single word of their jibber-jabber
The Norse as the ruling class needed the acceptance of the french nobility, that is the reason, why they adopted their language within less than two generations, being already totally french, when they raided England in 1066
Fuckin rollo
ОтветитьIt never pans to the audience with this guy who’s the most historically innacurate prof I’ve ever heard. I’m waiting for the video where they turn the camera to the crowd and it’s just all his stuffed animals lined up.
Ответить😎 cool
ОтветитьVikings didnt speak german comeon now
ОтветитьWrong . Normans beat back the Vikings in England . Is modern University this bad ?
ОтветитьMy family traces back to the Norman’s.
ОтветитьI find it strange this professor has every mention of him scrubbed from the internet except what he puts out about himself.
Also interesting is the most googled thing about him was what religion is he. Which is what I wanted to know. The way he hates on medieval Europeans just seems kind of Jewish.
It's Norman Wisdom 😊
ОтветитьSounds reasonable
ОтветитьDamn, i didnt know the Vikings were also involved in 9/11
ОтветитьHe’s kinda right but there were no abuses to the peasants of normandy
ОтветитьThey still refuse to speak anything other than French
ОтветитьAnyone who has ever endured abuse by an authority figure knows that it's an important part of the humiliation ritual to explain to you how noble authority really is and how you may not understand it but hurting you is actually helping you. 😂
ОтветитьI just love it how the french always refused learning a foreign language😂
ОтветитьAccording to to Rollo family history, Norman's were Danish rebels who opposed their king and settled in Orkneys and the Outer Hebrides and their first king was Eric Rollo. Willem Rollo conquered England and his grandson helped King David of Scotland get back his country off the Anjuvan French who had ousted the Norman nobility from England. By king Williams time, it's unlikely they would have spoken Danish as they had intermarried with the other royal houses of western Europe, mostly France.
ОтветитьGermanic is not German completely different dialect
ОтветитьThey went viking. Which was to go sailing and raiding and / or trading. In Norwegian, there's a word for vikings. Vikinger.
I'm not too sure this guy is onto much.
Every nation has abused, or currently abuses their people. 😂 still trying to paint the norskmen as evil, all these years later 🤣
ОтветитьSo even 1000s a years ago the French were annoying then also😂
ОтветитьThey called themselves as VHY-KINGS. Which is normal in their tongue. When they disembarked in 886 at the shores of Northern British Colombia they asked them ''who goth there?'' And they answered in bullish trombone vhy-kings. Which meant ''Olaf the boats!!!''
And the name stuck ever since.
The normans were assimilated in ine generation. By the time they conquered england, roughly 2 centuries later, they were fully french
ОтветитьNorsemen aren't German, in the Latin term Germania was not part of the north they different people, the Vikings aren't German, it's easy to see on the map and by language and the Romans are the judge bro bro
ОтветитьThis man is such a putz just makes random shlt up when he doesn't have a fkin clue! 😂😂😂😂😂
Ответитьeverything he says is wrong
ОтветитьIdiot, they didn`t speak german!
ОтветитьDialects of German? Hej doesnt know what He's talking about.
ОтветитьFirst ever use of UNO reverse card in France 😂
Ответитьthis guys so full of shit.. the French werent a thing in the 900s, they were FRANKS, and they didnt speak French, but Frankish. smh
Ответить"the dialects of German" 😂
The vikings married into nobility, but were still a minority. Everyone around them spoke French, so naturally they learned.
Even then the french don't want to change they language
ОтветитьThey were from Norway= in Norwegian: we called and still call ourselves Nordmen = men/women of Norway: we learnt English and actually gave English to England(we changed English) we learnt Italian in Sicily, we learnt French in France: it was not go abuse the people: not a smart expression. Vikings went to Spain also, and Portugal etc... the Russ: were the Swedes and created Russia: that's why it's called Russia(Swedes=Russ) we went to Iceland, Greenland and North America, same there we settled there but did not change the Indian culture there, same in Sicily( we changed it but not like tyrannical rulers) English historians are confused: read Edda: the vikings book that explains a lot about the history! But I guess he is onto something of an understanding of what happened. They had no horns on their helmets also, so....
ОтветитьActually, the peasants there are unwilling to learn anything ... even today ... like in almost every other country as well ...
Btw: It was not a dialect of German they spoke .... It was a Germanic dialect ... That makes a big difference

ОтветитьOnly thing said here with truth was rollo..
