FYI, this isn't true. Rollo embraced Christianity and willingly learned the language. He also protected northern France and there was very little "abuse". This "professor" sells a good story, that's about it.

Oh yeah, definitely! In fact every other ruler around looked and saw what they were doing, learning the language of the peasants to better abuse them, and decided 'heck I should do that too' and it became 'normal' from the frenchified word for the Norse 'Norman'.
And what's more normal than Norm walking into Cheers everyday.
Cliff Clavin was a psy op.
Aren't etymologies fun when you pretend.

No they were originally called Barbarians Germanians, Friesians just to name a few of the pre-european tribes. It's about time you all start teaching the truth about the indigenous people of the continent that was stolen and named Europe. And they were not speaking German. Back then there was no such thing as Germany. Germany is a bastardized name. Germany was not founded until 1874. Prior to 1874 Germany did not exist so they could not have been speaking German.

Nonsense
Nobody ever adopted the language of any peasants
You can abuse peasants quote easily without understanding a single word of their jibber-jabber
The Norse as the ruling class needed the acceptance of the french nobility, that is the reason, why they adopted their language within less than two generations, being already totally french, when they raided England in 1066

I find it strange this professor has every mention of him scrubbed from the internet except what he puts out about himself.

Also interesting is the most googled thing about him was what religion is he. Which is what I wanted to know. The way he hates on medieval Europeans just seems kind of Jewish.

According to to Rollo family history, Norman's were Danish rebels who opposed their king and settled in Orkneys and the Outer Hebrides and their first king was Eric Rollo. Willem Rollo conquered England and his grandson helped King David of Scotland get back his country off the Anjuvan French who had ousted the Norman nobility from England. By king Williams time, it's unlikely they would have spoken Danish as they had intermarried with the other royal houses of western Europe, mostly France.

They called themselves as VHY-KINGS. Which is normal in their tongue. When they disembarked in 886 at the shores of Northern British Colombia they asked them ''who goth there?'' And they answered in bullish trombone vhy-kings. Which meant ''Olaf the boats!!!''

And the name stuck ever since.

They were from Norway= in Norwegian: we called and still call ourselves Nordmen = men/women of Norway: we learnt English and actually gave English to England(we changed English) we learnt Italian in Sicily, we learnt French in France: it was not go abuse the people: not a smart expression. Vikings went to Spain also, and Portugal etc... the Russ: were the Swedes and created Russia: that's why it's called Russia(Swedes=Russ) we went to Iceland, Greenland and North America, same there we settled there but did not change the Indian culture there, same in Sicily( we changed it but not like tyrannical rulers) English historians are confused: read Edda: the vikings book that explains a lot about the history! But I guess he is onto something of an understanding of what happened. They had no horns on their helmets also, so....

Actually, the peasants there are unwilling to learn anything ... even today ... like in almost every other country as well ...

Btw: It was not a dialect of German they spoke .... It was a Germanic dialect ... That makes a big difference
