Ammonium Nitrate is not an explosive by itself. However, it is one of the ingredients used for manufacture of explosives. It is classified as an oxidizer (5.1) as per UN classification for Dangerous Goods. Other ingredients like fuel, etc., have to be added to make it an explosive. For such explosive mixtures to explode, initiators like detonators are required.

Very surprised that the EU Countries have not already impounded it and stolen it's cargo. How many other ships carrying Russian fertilizer were impounded in European ports since 2022. Many were destined to deliver their cargo to African Nations but the EU refused to release them.

It is FERTILIZER to which we have shipped millions and millions of tons around the world with no problem. Beirut explosion was fireworks stored next to old fertilizer and an uncontained fire burning for a while before the fireworks storage went off detonating the huge amount of fertilizer. If this story is correctly reported, and the ship requires servicing for safety reasons, then it is obvious negligence from European governments and ports to deny the ship a chance to port to get any necessary servicing done. We can have thousands of sanctions on Russia, but there are exceptions so that European governments do business with them usually via a proxy, so we can use the same exceptional ruling here. This report can be considered and treated as a deliberate cause of panic among the population. It was obviously done with evil intent.
