I live in Ocala and enjoy your videos. Silver Springs was wonderful. Animals, various boat rides, animal shows. For years they had concerts on the weekends and we miss those so much. We would get there early and find a spot for our chairs in front of the mansion, then walk around the park for hours. We saw everyone from George Jones to Willie Nelson to The Beach Boys to Leann Rimes. It was so much fun and we had inexpensive season passes. Wish they would do it again!

VIDEO IDEA! Rusty, I have followed you and watched many of your videos. One thing I'm not finding, and maybe this is a new video idea for you, is a clear explanation of the patio vs courtyard villas vs cottage villas vs bungalow villas, etc. I also recently was reading on TOTV of the differences between corner lots and end lots. They are clearly different, but I do not understand how. I think patio villas generally have lanais in the front and courtyard villas have them in the back. I also understand some (Bungalow?) are because they are made of block and stucco as opposed to those made with wood frame and vinyl siding. Patio villas are generally smaller, but what else differentiates the types of homes.Thanks, Puto.

Thanks, Rusty! When I was a kid we went to Silver Springs and went on the glass bottom boats. It was a hopping place back then. It was probably in the late 1960’s. We have talked about visiting the park. My dad actually lives in the Ocala National Forest now. He moved down from western NY years ago. Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting. I visited Silver Springs back in the 70's and as I recall they did have various domestic animals that the kids could see, pet, and feed. I don't remember any rides. Also, Jerry and Linda, The Florida Village Newcomers, periodically go outside The Bubble to visit local attractions. Perhaps you could coordinate with them the places you plan visit to avoid any duplication?

originally went to the springs in late 1950's while growing up in St. Pete. Ross Allens Reptile ranch was a big draw. Milking rattlesnakes, alligator show (which were rare then) and wild animals.I was about 12 years old and very impressed. Old Florida was so different back then. No big interstates had yet developed. U.S. 19 was a 2 lane road not 6 like today. Moved to the Villages in Feb this year. Love my place in Hawkins.
