Think I will stick with pikvm
ОтветитьI live in New Zealand. Most of my trust issues when it comes to software lay with Meta and Google. Funnily enough these aren't Chinese companies.
ОтветитьI just received mine and it is utter garbage. Absolute unusable. Clicking in wrong places, opening explorer every time I click and many many other issues. Can not use it AT ALL. Seller/Support is ghosting us all
ОтветитьIf they fixed their problems and got rid of security concerns I'd buy one of thoses $20. one for each of my servers for my businesses and home. Thanks for the video
ОтветитьI have seen some videos, where this device opened several connections to the internet including a tailscale connection. Anny hints from you about this?
ОтветитьAfter seeing apalrd's thorough security analysis and reverse engineering, there's no way I would buy one. Far too dangerous. Suffice it to say I will not use a device that requests a customized binary from their server while providing serial number. The risk of an attack with a customized payload is absolutely real. That video is a must-watch before buying.
ОтветитьRISC is good
ОтветитьPeople need to STOP calling them KVM's, when they are RAC appliances.
ОтветитьGiven its size, 100% hackable. Especially considering you need your firewall to allow it public access. With a vpn it's a little better but still. An especially since it can control an actual computer on a domain. This is why you pay so much in business for iDrac etc. With Linux I would imagine it could be secure but given the limited storage and it would have to be updated often I doubt it.
ОтветитьA matter of trust ? Really ???... let me call NSA ;-)
ОтветитьPOE version would be cool!
ОтветитьFor 50$ nice. You can do this on your own but if you are in a restrictive environment, theres some trickery you gotta do, hdmi loopbacks with intercepts and feeding the HID then theres the IP reachability. Someone gonna read this and say wtf are you saying, but if you understand you get it. Teensy microcontroller, etc is similar. If you want to get fancy and start doing vpn or vpn bundling or relay then you're gonna find your self in deep doo doo FAST AS HELL.
ok so you want top 5 issues?
Unauthorized Network Access: Secure the KVM with a VPN and strong passwords to prevent remote hacking.
Data Interception: Encrypt all HDMI and USB traffic to protect video and input streams.
Device Vulnerabilities: Regularly update the KVM firmware to patch security flaws.
Physical Tampering: Lock the device in a secure location and check for tampering.
Peripheral Data Leakage: Use trusted hardware and encrypt sensitive traffic to avoid exposure.
sooooooo you think herp derp gonna use this on an enterprise secret party time. Haha, go ahead. Yes, this does support POE, and that alone is very very very interesting.
Hi Jeff, I've ordered today. I my usecase in my homelab i need it for bare metal installs or update scenarios where i need a console view. The other solutions are for an 24/7 service that a homelab guy not need.
ОтветитьIt should be renamed to KMV (Keyboard, Mouse and Video) in order to not confuse it with Kernel Virtual Machine, which is widely used in servers and corporate environments.
ОтветитьHas anyone tried to install PiKVM on this yet? I got the PCIe variant and really like how compact it is. I was wondering if I install PiKVM to a separate SD card and swap it in if that would potentially work?
Ответитьisn this open now can find updated video talking about this...
Update 10.18
We have opensourced the backend code in 10.8, and thank you for Civil PR it immediately, we will give you newest NanoKVM-PCIe as a reward!
The mid-Oct batch is starting testing and packaging, most order before 10.1 will ship out next and next next week.
The aliexpress shipping date is change to Dec since 10.1, it is a conservative delivery time. the order in Oct. should send out during 11.15~12.15.
Can we get an update video if possible on the situation?
Ответитьdid you notice how their browser icon (aka favicon) is literally a copy-paste of the OMV logo?
ОтветитьNow it's fully open source and stable verson. It can work with h264 encode and no power reset bug. but the kpi of the star in github is very meanless, they should stop it
Ответить50 bucks is too much. You could get an Orange Pi Zero 2W, and it's more capable... for less than 20 bucks. So now we're paying 30 dollars for privilege of a 3D printed case, a tiny screen that probably costs less than $3, and out-of-the-box functionality. If it's worth it to someone for that, be my guest.
ОтветитьWhere to buy? Their site links to another site that says the product is removed.
ОтветитьCOoL. They won't "open it" until they (the Chinese) get 10,000 TARGETS CUSTOMERS? eGads man. However, thank you for the video. You continue to RoCk
Just got mine this past weekend. Using it to remote into my work laptop, they force us to use either windows (boo) or mac (less boo). Trying to figure out if i can just use rdp or vnc instead of their web interface. Also would like its dhcp client to advertise a hostname so I can find it via local dns.
Ответитьiphone is somthing you not wana trust that much :)) just to say :)) small offtopic but other than that this device is cool :))
ОтветитьIf you bought this product, I would suggest that you test the jumper wires / dupont wires with a magnet and that you do not use the included wires if they are magnetic. The ones that I got are strongly magnetic, suggesting that they are iron instead of copper or aluminum.
ОтветитьUse Intel vPro if available. AMD has DASH, never used, though.
ОтветитьFor the price of a pikvm you could buy 3 of these plus a rack adapter.
ОтветитьSo convenient.- you can access your machine from anywhere. so can the guy who sold it to you. So convenient.
ОтветитьKVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine)
Ответитьcool
ОтветитьThe size of this thing is quite impressive. So small... that some hacker with physical access could do some bad stuff! :P
Hopefully this thing gets open source!
Thanks for the video!
Made in china and control by foregein company and made in china control by china company is two different story
ОтветитьIt is $120 now on Ali. Crazy.
ОтветитьWell I won't buy one of these if I can't audit the software myself. Chicken egg! Hope there are a lot of people who will be willing to take the risk on security so I can finally audit this!
ОтветитьId-rac. I have never heard it called that usually its called I-drac.
ОтветитьThe USB backfeed issue should be solvable with a cable that doesn't connect the +5V line or even a bit of tape over the pin in the connector... At least that's how I solved a similar problem with an Octopi backfeeding my 3D printer.
ОтветитьI have a switchbot mounted on the power button for my machine. Nice simple analogue solution, works great.
ОтветитьI'm a network engineer I think is great don't buy it don't use it! It's from China you cannot trust ever.
ОтветитьAndroid app
ОтветитьScary good
ОтветитьPiKVM is the ONLY kvm OS that should ever be used on products like this! All these new companies that keep releasing new hardware kvms like this need to STOP wasting their time creating all new one-off operating systems for these device and instead spend that development time porting PiKVM OS to their devices!
Ответить5 seconds and I want one already. You could control the power instead via secure switch?
ОтветитьDoes this support the microphone as well?
ОтветитьGreat review warning its a bit early
ОтветитьHahahahaha!!! … is build by apple in the US!… HAHAHAHAHA… so yes why don’t trust it then! Ask Assange 😂😂😂
ОтветитьI imagine you could keep it local and just use it for managing network devices. That would be handy for me.
