My bestfriend was schizophrenic. It showed up in childhood but i never realized the red flags because she saw the voices as spirits and a spiritual thing and i was a child. As an adult the voices became extremely cruel. She took her own life two years ago. I got her books and they had notes where she had scribbled what the voices were saying and it was horrific. She told me a lot but what the voices were saying made her feel sooo much shame. I couldnt have lived hearing what she heard honestly.

In regards to him laughing i assume hes hearing voices that are trying to make him laugh.

I honestly believe the SA story. Lying doesn’t seem like his MO and I can’t imagine a situation like that where someone wouldn’t deny the allegations?

People here believe the assault definitely happened don’t know what schizophrenia can do to a person, the hallucination to them is real.
That being said, I’m not saying it didn’t happen, but considering his mental illness, it’s very hard to say whether it happened or not just from his words, sadly

I think the mother is worse than him.
He killed her bc she protested his abuser. It’s not like he wants to go out and kill everyone. It was retaliatory bc she did something awful. She should have been locked up.
She was a danger to society for letting a pedo walk the streets who was going to victimize others.

He only killed her bc she failed him.
He won’t kill again. It was brutal but what he endured is worse. He reached out for help.
Just bc he had a speech issue. He is the victim.
His mother was evil

Wow, i never thought i would feel empathy for a sledgehammer wielding killer, bug here i am.

The way zachary talks about the sa story i think he truley believes it, i dont know if it did or didnt happen but we have to remember he suffers from schizophrenia which can cause delusions, he can fully imagine and believe a very traumatising thing that didnt happen and it can still have a huge effect on him

I believe that his brother did do that. The brother would OF COURSE deny it. It happens more than one would think.

I feel like the voice in his mind as well as his decision to murder his mom were manifestations of his resentment for never getting proper treatment. This could have been avoided if his mom had continued taking him to therapy and gotten him medicated. Edit: just got to the part about SA and I absolutely believe him. He has no reason to lie in a diary, and his extremely withdrawn personality and quiet way of speaking completely line up with the behavior of someone who has been assaulted

i think that its crazy that he was sent to prison instead of a psychiatric unit/ mental hospital. This kid is absolutely horrible and what he did was disgusting but he very clearly needed and still needs help.

I really believe that Zachary was telling the truth about being assaulted. Considering the diary entry and the lack of showering, it sounds very true to me. Of course Josh denied it, why would anyone sit there and admit to violating anyone, let alone his own younger brother. Their mothers reaction also sounds very real to me because child on child, familial, and male victims aren't taken as seriously.

Reguardless, Zachary was still failed several times over. He stopped receiving the mental help he desperately needed. If he had gotten that help, he may have never done anything like this. He should've been sent to a high security psych ward instead of a prison, he clearly isn't well.

I half believe his story of the SA the not showering part can be fear of his brother doing it while he was showering but its also a defence mechanism most children who suffer SA do by not showering and smelling bad they can feel more protected because who would want to assault someone who smells its a sadly common thought for sa survivors. But i always want to say that maybe to him the SA was real because of his schizophrenia its not just voices in the head it can be hallucinations and can falsify memories. Which can also explain his behaviour in the court.

im not gonna lie when i first heard his voice i honestly jumped it was so shocking like i was notttt expecting him to sound like that. his whole case is honestly sickening the way someone can do that and laugh is horrifying. and the fact he went untreated when diagnosed with schizophrenia is so odd.

This person is one of the most terrifying people I have ever seen. The darkness in his soul knows no mercy.
