Rule one of France don't mess with a Frenchmen and his chickens it is the State bird if that not a clue I don't what is! No chickens here just vineyards sorry I got it out of order it's don't mess with a Frenchmen wine than his chickens or things will go bad!

I was told I am as American as any American born on American soil because when I was born here in France it was occupied soil by the Americans giving me the full weight of a Bloody Yankee but I was told I could not be French, well the French government didn't like that and their push back all people born on French soil bear the right to carry both citizenship, and the French won! So I am French just to upset MAGA because legally I am allowed and my father gave 25 years of his life to America giving MAGA the right to insult my father I hope he is happy! Why because I live with my American father, and his dependents also paid to the American government by putting up with US Army rules that I did not agree to, so he can try to tell me I am wrong and I will not listen to him! Check what Trump told Senator John McCain no that was wrong and I agree with little of what John said but to call him that no we give John his due respect than you can discuss how wrong he is about any political issues you want! We don't insult Vet's their served us with their lives on the line! Thank you John McCain for your service and RIP!

How long did it take you to walk into the City? Because you drive on your videos I assumed you were quite rural.

Love your videos. My wife and I are recently retired and for years we discussed and planned for moving to France. We have a great life; I am older and just turned 70. Now that I am retired am wondering if I am too old to make such a move. We have spent a few years learning some basic French and love the French culture. I never knew the decision would be so difficult! Any words of wisdom for a couple from Chicago?

Great video. I loved seeing your walk around the village and to see you point out where the glow in the 'night sky' is. I love that part of the videos, along with the slo mo.
I also agree with what you said about people who just live in 'expat ghettos'. I go to France to enjoy the culture, the language (allegedly) and the history. Anyway next Thursday, I get into my sister's car and we head off to Cognac for two weeks. It has been almost 20 years since I was last in the Charente. This time I hope we don't have mice in the gite! I can still remember watching France in the world Cup with one for company!

I come to France with the shirt on my back, however to the Americans I would think twice about any furniture or any large kitchen appliances! Many French homes have smaller and narrower doors, hallways, and bedroom! I live a new home and for some reason outside of my control the main door, and hallway are smaller than most my mother wanted a piano but we can so I got her the Lego baby grand piano for her 90 birthday! Yes I built it over 4000 parts I had fun she loves it! The keyboard can move when hook up to a smartphone that will play a little tune! Kitchen cabinet are most often taking out, by French law their must be a lamp in most rooms but it is the cheapest lamp one can buy, about one Euro and change dirt cheap! Repainting the wall is often not done you may even have buy your own toilet seat, and if there is one don't take when you leave to put in your new place buy the cheapest one and leave that behind even if the landlord did not give you one give him one it helps you more than you will ever know!

Hi Rob ,the finished pointing looks great , well done and a good example of safe work, we live opposite a church and love the bells ringing,we pinch ourselves every day it is so nice here in lovely beautiful France you should not give the orange one any thoughts ,according to them we are just random country who hasn't fought a conflict in 40 odd years i think you and many of your fellow servicemen could explain. History to him and how allies which together for belief in a common good cause not just how much we are going to pay him ,sorry for the rant,

I really enjoyed your walk, it was very calming. We love to walk in the countryside too because it's just so beautiful here and you can relax while walking, hear the birds chirping - just being in nature. So thank you for taking us along. I totally agree with you on learning the language. It's certainly not easy and I know we're struggling but it's worth it just to be able to converse with people who are just lovely even if we can't fully communicate. Looking forward to the next video in the adventures of Rob and Lisa.

Ron & Lisa, Don't worry about a sensitive maga getting his panties in a wad. I was born and have lived in the US my entire life, and I can't wait to make the exit and move to France. The lying cheating grifter, Donald Trump, has caused me to expedite my exit...

Sorry you had to deal with that Rob. That reaction from the $&@!? supporter is why many Yanks like me watch the channel, learn from you and prepare to GTFO. It’s become a daily part of life in the States. It’s sad, I have had reactions like that from family and (former) friends, but luckily as your work on YT shows, the world is a big place for one to go find a place that suits them best.

I believe that electrical items from the USA work on 110 volts so would not be compatible changing the plugs to French as we are 240 volts here (might be wrong) for your American viewers who might be thinking of emigrating here ….. (Ian & Ann ….scousers in Lussac Les Eglises ) 👍

The 1940's classroom comments made me lol... when I first came here in 2004, I'd come from a school that was just trialling the new smart boards- all touchscreen and interactive. Modern computers in IT etc... My first day of French school, the teacher had a black board with chalk and everyone had the flip-lid school desks. Fountain pens were compulsory. Then we had to recite French poems at the front of the class and we'd get smacked by the teacher for any mistakes 😳 It felt like being in a Victorian novel 🤣🤣 Well done on the lessons! Also totally agree with the comments about how to prep for moving to France... we're also trying to change over all of our plugs 😆 I reckon we'll still be doing it one year from now 😂

CQFD

Heard another colloquialism the other day...at art class and i had painted some mushrooms and a french lady in the class looked at it and said 'C'est chouette'...i thought my mushrooms must look like an owl!!...but apparently it means very pretty😂😂

Oooh, I gotta catch up. But I've been a WEE bit busy - moving from Texas to SW France with two dogs! I am way behind on cutting my own videos. But any TACO bashing is great entertainment. I'm up to a whopping 249 subscribers now, woo hoo. But hoping that will change as I am now here, and my focus is doing this on a tight budget, so it's go time!

Coming over from the USA? Apart from me, dogs*, clothing, shoes, laptop, tablet, a TON of rechargeable AAA and AA batteries and their charger, I brought art (took framed stuff out and rolled it, safely packed other things), a spaghetti strainer my Dad gave me when I was 19, a US measurement cup measure for favorite recipes (on the advice of Raina of Baguette Bound) and very few other things. MY hotel room the night before I left? I ditched another 12 lbs (!!) of stuff. Do I even miss it now, no. So I didn't need it.

I'll be unpacking some of this into my temp/summer place for days yet, and have already spent a few hundred dollars at IKEA, BricoMarché, and ACTION on things that a person living in a place needs but not a person staying in an AirBnb for a few days. My SendMyBag boxes three) will arrive 6th juin. THey'll stay packed until I find a permanent place.

Just happy to be here, but also processing, deeply. *Dogs were champs, both of them!
