Did you ever try just replacing the ring gear , with same ID / OD and tooth count . Knock off using a brass punch, heat up ring gear, should fall right on, then will get tight when cools off. Can be done with Automotive and truck flywheels.

I replaced the 97 tooth flywheel ring on my Courage SV820S this past winter. Only cost $32 on Amazon. Works great. No need to go through all that trouble.

Just use your teeth the to be about right😂
