Paul and Morgan VS Shiny Happy People

Submitting to your husband according to the Bible is NOT AT ALL abuse nor what you act like it is. AT ALL. PLEASE go read the Bible....

Again like Paul and Morgan said they aren't mad about what they said. The documentary CLEARLY lumped ALL Christians in with extremist Christian groups like IBLP. NOT ALL CHRISTIANS ARE ALIGNED WITH THAT GROUP. They made it seem like ALL Christians are bad and evil people.

Is it so crazy that there are Christians like Paul and Morgan who believe all the victims stories of things that have happened are wrong and don't support those things and that those people who did that in the name of Jesus are wrong and will be held accountable by God and have seriously misused the word of God and twisted God's word? What Paul and Morgan believe comes across as "extreme" to the world and you because you have a wrong worldview. You don't view the world with a Christian and by the Bible worldview.

I feel like a lot of you would understand more if you would just ACTUALLY read the Bible...

"I recommend sending Jaclyn a thank you card...she's trying to keep ya'll from embarrassing yourselves. When folks see you, they don't see Christ...they see two combative, unpleasant, pushy, critical individuals using the faith to excuse your arrogance, ignorance and overall rudeness of others. Ya'll don't see how much you lack humility...you make your living off of being sensational and extra. Try applying some moderation to your approach. People don't dislike GOD, they dislike the two of you. GOD shouldn't be your excuse to belittle people who are attempting to give you a chance. Paul and Morgan are unhappy with the documentary because they thought they were going to be the “redemption arc” for Christianity in this series.

They’re uncomfortable with the fact that a demographic that they fall into has been painted as the villain, and by “painted as the villain,” I mean it has in fact been the villain in a lot of people’s lives. And instead of taking the accountability of “Hey, maybe there are some really screwy things happening in the world and these people were hurt by someone in the name of my god,” they try to “Not All Christians!” their way out of it.

I knew a Christian girl back in college who was totally into submitting to her soon-to-be husband and she couldn't wait to be unalive so she could reunite with Jesus. I was open to her about being atheist, and she was open about praying that someday I would turn to God. She was nice enough, but we didn't keep in contact. Having your beliefs and whatnot is fine. Trying to shove them into people's faces is not. I once heard on NPR a member of a Fundamentalist Christian group talk about how he's disappointed in the way others with his beliefs are thought of because of how loud the extremists are. He assured that Jesus does love EVERYONE regardless of sex, sexual preference, gender, race, etc. The important aspect of Christianity is compassion and love, not the hate that we hear those who identify as Fundamentalist spew. Extremists always ruin it for the rest of us... and as I mentioned in my comment on your reaction to Girl Defined's reaction to Shiny Happy People: extremists are always the ones who think everyone but them is extreme.

Jeez, you can really see how Paul has got his claws around Morgan. Reminds me of my very religious grandparents because my Grandad never let my Grandma speak, and every time she did, he told her she was wrong. 😒

Also, St. Jude's is a phenomenal hospital and charitable organization. I'm so glad there's something like them in the world. 💝

I haven't watched "Shiny, happy, people", but I can imagen the interview didn't fit the narrative the doc makers were going for, or the conversation wasn't as insightful as they were hoping. Paul and Morgan are not the most intellectual amongst God's flock... Also, isn't it completely normal that alot of footage and early storylines are abadoned/left at the cutting board. Maybe they originally planed to dedicate a whole episode to Christian influencers. They should have just left out the entire interview though. Keeping 2 min out off 4 hrs seems kinda pointless, and I can understand the interview subjects feeling cheated.

Submission is not what you think it means. it means honoring the husband. Its not so he can be the ruler over her.

Tbh I’m sure after this interview they figured it would be easier to just pull clips. I’ve been working on a doc for 8 months, it costs a lot of money and takes forever. That may have been part of the reason. It took them years to make this. Poor things, docs are hard work.

Paul and Morgan are definitely extremists. They don't really fit in the iblp BS though but they knew they had to be on TV and think they're oh so important yet they didn't know anything about the IBLP. You can and should condemn Josh Duggar, obviously and how the Duggars choose to raise their kids and condemn so many other people. Paul and Morgan don't belong on this program but again they think they're important yet really don't know what they are talking about or why the show is what it is actually about. Such a waste of time even having them on. Should've given time to people that are victims and actually understand what the show is truly about. Thank goodness Jaclyn is not a moron and is showing just how dumb they genuinely are! You can be a Christian guys, geeeeeeez Paul and Morgan! Not about YOU! Read! Well honestly, it does actually say submit as in for them to serve their husbands. It means it in a nurturing sense not a give up your rights and voice and have no say, and then the list for men is so long. It says for them to nourish women, love them more than they love theirselves, to give themselves entirely, and quite literally care for her in a serving sense "to nourish" so where legalism takes place is the read that single sentence about women and ignore the entire chapter long follow up explaining what it means. It's sad really. Legalism picks and chooses what to believe in order to abuse women. But, Jesus did not like those kinds of people and couldn't stand them. He preached against them; they were the pharisees

Here is the litmus test: would Paul and Morgan be this upset about a documentary in which the same information came out about a non-Christian group and still didn't preach for Christianity? Would they see an issue with one about an Islamic group that went on to promote Islam?

I think what makes them frustrated is that they know this docuseries, intentionally or otherwise does more harm than good to the general perception of what they believe are normal Christianity.

You can't disassociate "tradition" from "old people/generations". If you think our ancestors had it right, good for you but you can't get away from looking old-fashioned. That's the point of being old-fashioned.

When an extremist sees something even slightly less extreme than what they do, then it's dangerous and is a stepping stone to deconstruction. I remember being raised with this mindset and being concerned about the smallest things.

Some Christians seem to respond to any criticism as "you hate us so much!". And some fundamentalist Christians assume that any criticism of their brand of Christianity is an attack on all Christians.
