just for anyone wondering!! too much salt in the blood, or hypernatremia, is a result of dehydration. consuming alcohol dehydrates the body (dehydration causes most of the symptoms of a hangover) and then with Sanda not being given any water, the effects were only compounded. as for fish oil, its generally not considered dangerous (just gross). in high doses it can cause blood sugar to spike, but really that's only a big concern if someone is diabetic, and can act as a blood thinner, which can cause increased risk of bleeding, but i don't know how quickly something like that would set in. the main thing is that fish oil can be very high in vitamin A, and it is possible to get Vitamin A toxicity, which actually has a lot of the same symptoms as being blackout drunk :(

The defending arguments are bs, those were basically grown men. One of them is getting trained to be a doctor, the others probably going on to work with the justice system and thats how they treat someone they were supposed to protect? Its disgusting how racism is still such a huge issue and is still taking innocent lives. And the parents are just as disgusting for defending their murderous children. Watching this video, as a Belgian KU Leuven student, I'm amazed by how fully and acurately you've covered this case (to my knowledge). Hopefully Sanda and his family (and the other two victims of the hazing) get the justice they deserve in future! Nothing like this should happen again 😢 these societies are disgusting. What do you mean by saying he was 'black'? The way I understand how english and americans use the word black is as someone who is fully subsaharan african. You are using it as being someone with a dark skincolor, right? Because, strictly speaking. He was as white as he was black. He was neither. His mom was "white" and his dad was "black". Why do you give more attention to his "black part" than to his "white part"? Like the way you are telling it you are making it racist. He has a dark skin sure. But that alone doesnt make you odd or not quamifuable. At least in the Netherlands. You have allot of people in fraternities who wouldnt be considered "white". The rule is not that you have to be "white" to succeed. The rule is that you have to be truly culturally integrated, be intelligent, speak fluent dutch, and have a elite mindset. By elite i mean, you have to be a idiosynccratic person; an interesting person.Your skincolor is seen as just another asset of you, just like having a big nose, or being from a certain region in the netherlands, or being gay, or being sentimental are. You just have to deal with them. Everybody is judged on the way they look. Being of color is not the be all end all. Its just skincolor.

As a person who has been in a fraternity I just want to say that the punishments this guy went through are beyond normal hazings. This is torture pure and simple. This is interrogation style torture. Like waterboarding. Sure in my fraternity we had to do some chores or drink some stuff. But as far as i know in the netherlands the big fraternities have banned alcohol alltogether as part of the hazing method and always have a bottle of water near them. You don't mess with food or water. Its actually the smaller less prominent fraternities which do this kind of shit, because they feel like they need to show others that they are for real. I kniw of a case in the netherlands where one guy who was black in Groningen had to go around on hands and jnees with a chain around his neck, held by another member, but this guy turned around, sued them, and got them both expelled from the fraternity, and all the people I have spoken to agreed with the decision, as this was even for fraternity standards considered one bridge too far. You shoykd never pick on the individual person, alsways on the group. The only thing food or drink related I had to do(and I was in one of the prestigious ones) was drinking very spicy tomato juice together with my fellow initiates in a short span of time, or we had to eat a plate of sausages in one minute and dump what remained, once the minute past, on our heads. or we had to finish a beer keg with small groul if people, but tgis was already after you were a member. You did it because you liked it, not because it was forced, and ppl were never pushed to the edge physically. Drinking alcohol is one of the dumbest initiation tools ever. You are taking advantage of the people wanting to be members. Its sick, but it is done by smaller fraternitues much more often. You only don't hear about it because they are not so prestiguous or old. In some sense, hazing is an art. You have to really know how to pusb someone without breaking him. I feel much more secure being hazed by a big fraternity with allot of media attention on them, then sime small almost 'friendgroup' of people who dont know what the fck they are doing. Even if hiw they behave is less fraternity like, the forced drinking is a dangerous instrument. While I was drunk once in a smaller shitty fraternity i was so drunk and tired i fell of my chair hitting my head in a concrete floor. These fckers dudnt even knwo how to react or didnt even apilogize. The bigger the fraternity, the more regulated things are, trust me. Its the smalls ones you have to rrally watch out for, uts there you really get 'lord of the fly' scenarios

Honestly. To read the story as a story of racism does such a disservice to the real problem. You are just not entirely hitting the mark. This has nothing to do with racism. This has to do with elitism and the power of wealthy people. The fact they are akk white is just because(newsflash) in Belgium, THE MAJORITY IS WHITE. Non white immigrants are a very very small minority, and they are also recently new inhabitants of the country. There have been similar cases in the past al throug belgium and the netherlands where the victims were white. You just said yourself that all other initiates also had to go to the hospital, and they weren't
