I remember when I used to play on this one friendly server where it was genuinely friendly and people weren't allowed to kill you back in circa 2015.

A another server I remember is Fiala and Invert's servers back in 2015-2016(?) aswell.

A guy named MasteroftheXP used to run a gm_bigcity server that had a custom plugin/gamemode called "sandbox", wasn't the "TF2 Sandbox" you can get today.

Afaik is lost, though I haven't tried to contact him because his steam is gone and the only remnants is his nearly empty Sourcemod account. The server was in in like 2012 and I used to play on it as a 10-11 year old for days straight, not kidding, and the dude was like a mentor to me at the time.

I actually played FC a few times, it was janky iirc. i do remember playing on a map that had like, a wheat feild with fences around it. It was playable outside of China, as im in australia and could play it without issue. i played it along with another TF2-Like game from the same era, cant remember its name. But yeah, was playing this in, i wanna say 2016? i had no idea it just... vanished.
I remember making comments on the ingame chat that "this was ripping off TF2's beta" in reguards to the grenades that where present in FC

The Golden Machine Gun segment made me terribly sad. I'd never played on it, at least not that I can remember (though my memory is notoriously shit, so I very well may have once or twice), but it reminded me that the old days of tight-knit proper communities coming together on community servers is a thing of the past. Nowadays, most community servers are either dead or don't have the same vibe that would facilitate a proper community of friends and acquaintances growing (ie Skial or Uncletopia). The gaming sphere has permanently changed and things like that really just don't happen very often anymore.

wow, it's been a while that I've heard about Golden Machine Gun. I wasn't there when it was the most active, but I remember seeing a deep dive about this server. Their final video is somewhat magical and amazing, especially watching their final video. All of the people on that server are long gone, and the owner has disappeared. It's legacy is still there, and the nostalgia is real.

Also, the taste in music here is absolutely marvelous, gotta love the selection.

If people still remember the names of the maps for Golden Machine Gun, they've probably been archived on the mevl2 TF2 Maps Archive. There's about a dozen different variants of achievement_tunnels and 1 copy of gmg_tunnels spanning as far back as 2010. I remember wanting to find a niche map hosted on a small server called achievement_idle_goatville that I used to play wayyy back in the day and somehow this archive even had it. No idea where the maps come from but it's a pretty comprehensive archive of most of tf2's history that would absolutely otherwise be lost to time.
