We all suffer because of what was done to Christ, so we can relate to one another.

Sermon notes:
Main Point: God's gospel-shaped community is shaped by the Word of God and through suffering
1. Receive the Word of God
The first significant shaping force for the gospel community is the reception of the Word of God. God’s people understand the distinction between hearing words as mere human speech versus recognizing them as the divine Word of God, which actively works within believers. This process of reception is not passive; it involves an active and discerning engagement that acknowledges the Word’s authority and transformative power.
2. Relate to The Suffering of Others
The second shaping force is the community’s relationship to suffering. Believers, by relating to each other's sufferings, participate in a larger narrative of faith that transcends individual experiences. This shared suffering fosters a deep sense of unity and identity as they embody the suffering, endurance, and hope exemplified by the early churches and, ultimately, by Christ himself.
Concluding Thoughts:
Our community forms deep connections through embracing God’s Word and sharing in each other’s sufferings. These dual forces not only shape and strengthen our collective identity and mission. Commitment to live out the gospel boldly, supported by the Word and united in suffering; by doing so we’ll demonstrate the reality of God’s kingdom among us.
