That would be like saying that whoever wrote down the Iliad or the Odyssey were plagiarists because they wrote down a pre-existing oral tradition. Oral traditions were inherently flexible and every performance was more than likely different from the last. That's what happens when you have code writers try to make the story mesh. Sometimes the story written has to be made different in order to make the story line mesh. In other words sometimes there are conflicts or extreme complexity that can't be seen until it's attempted to put it in to action. Personally i love the whole idea of that kind of challenge.
