How to Use Crackle Paint to Make Large Cracks ~ Please Read Pinned Comment for an Update

thank you , Trying to do this with fishing lures I think I may drown my lure to get the effect , I tried that open top container brand it sucked. Maybe I didn't do enough because it was all small and you couldn't see anything. i was putting UV paint colors under black top coat pretty much nothing.

Wouldn’t that make writing on the clip board very hard with all the cracks?

Would a clear latex finish work for a top coat? I'm making an attempt at aging a sign I'm finishing. My thought is when done; crackle medium, then clear coat (that hopefully will crackle), then rub in some antiquing to slightly bring out the crackle, if I'm successful giving my sign the appearance of being old.
Any thoughts or direction will be greatly appreciated.

Iam in arizona and iam uding the same product. Its winter time no snow just been under 70 degrees. Humidity is undr 85% and iam not getting any crackles if i do they are extemly small ive done it with a foam brush a mormal brush u name ive aplied with and its getting frustating i have to do a guitar body for a company. What were the conditions when u applied this. Warm cold inside outside?

I bought the folk art crackle medium, used a clip board.. but mine looks awful.. It's more of a weathered look.. not the large crackles that go all directions.. help ! I used a heavy coat of crackle., it dried all night.. then lightly painted it - I didn't drop the paint in little squirts 1st.. is that what I needed to do.. and have it be a heavier coat to get LARGE crackles going all directions?

* NOTE 6/1/2021 ~ This video is from several years ago and the effects are different on various materials. Here in 2021 I believe they've changed the formula of the Folk Art Crackle Medium because I have to put an enormous amount of crackle medium on my wood block to get a little crackle. I've reached out to the company but have not received a response.

Question? I did a white crackle on top of wood so the cracks are oak colored but I wish I would have done a black background so the cracks were black. Is their anything I can use to wipe over cracks with black but not change the light crackle on top?

Hi! I googled what to do if I don’t get enough crackle effect and your video came up. I painted a wood sign, applied a good amount of the medium, then put a lighter color paint on top after the crackle dried completely. Some spots came out good, but the rest just looks……crappy lol. I need more crackle! Is there anything I can do?

So much better than using Citatel texture paints. I like them, but can never get the large cracks.
