13th ilb - Joke van Leeuwen - Philipp Schaeffer Library - Berlin - September 6, 2013

September 6, 2013, 6.00 p.m., Philipp Schaeffer Library, Berlin. As part of the program of the 13th Berlin International Literature Festival (internationales literaturfestival berlin), festival section "International Children´s and Young Adult Literature", the dutch author, illustrator and cabaret artist Joke van Leeuwen spoke about her life and work.

The event was the official presentation of Joke van Leeuwen as first winner of the the "James Krüss Award for International Children´s and Young Adult Literature" ("James-Krüss-Preis für Internationale Kinder- und Jugendliteratur") in Berlin, organized by the International Youth Library Munich (Internationale Jugendbibliothek München) and the Berlin International Literature Festival, and funded by the James Krüss Community of Heirs (James Krüss Erbengemeinschaft). On stage, there were Joke van Leeuwen, Dr. Ada Bieber (Humboldt University of Berlin), Kirsten Rickmers-Liebau (James Krüss Community of Heirs) and host Philip Geisler.

The short clip shows Joke van Leeuwen and host Philip Geisler at the end of the event. Philip Geisler knew about Joke van Leeuwens talent to imitate instruments, and asked her to play spontaneously "Moon River" with him. See the entertaining result.
