Dario tigris has been described only in 2022 (see reference below). The species was before known as Dario sp. Myanmar and was also traded as Dario sp. pyamas. The species most probably share their habitat with Dario hysginon as we quite regular see these as bycatch mixed with the tigris.

Nice to say is that more females are in trade compared to the Dario dario, where females are hardly ever available. Dario tigris prefer low temperatures, in wintertime the water-temperature can drop as low as 16°C. We don't recommend a heater for their well being. This makes the fishes more interesting to watch as the real seasonal fluctuation in the aquarium will be duplicated as in nature. And as with all species in the aquarium they live considerably longer when you put the temperature at the lower part of their natural range.

In our fascinating hobby we seem to forget that albeit there are not always typical winters as we know, or used to know, the seasons do change during the year and more often than not the water-parameters, the flow as well as the temperatures of the water change.
