supercharger is blowing the spark out. change plug wires close gap on plugs to 32 or 35 .
ОтветитьDon't have that problem with my fox!!!! Carb life, and my fox starts just as good as an efi car!!
ОтветитьCar sounds great!!!
ОтветитьI like to put a small chisel mark on base of dist and engine so you can put timing back with out using timing light
ОтветитьAlways blame the TFI first then check other things. Always have a new one on hand just in case, Man she is hitting now
sounding good.
I had similar issues with my 87, missing on acceleration when hot. Luckily a friend let me borrow parts and it ended up being an issue inside the distributor that only had problems when it was hot. Granted, it had 250k miles on it, so it was probably due for a new one. I got a used OEM distributor from another friend and it ran great for another 56k miles.
ОтветитьYou mean everyone don’t carry TFI, IAC and TPS and all the tools to swap them with them everywhere they go? Who knew😂🤷🏻♂️
ОтветитьDamm TFI module happen to me. Too much moisture got inside of mine and fried it. But yeah will keep you stranded for sure. Good video brother.
ОтветитьThat is one of the very best sounding cars I have ever heard. Its perfect in every way. Revs quick, throaty roar. It gets no better than this. The part you replaced will lead to a no start condition when the part dies. happened to me. by some miracle of luck I guessed it was that part and fixed it quickly and for low $$$$.
ОтветитьHey Brew, How about being our President ? we are going no where under Biden except in the toilet. You could make Papa T Secretary of Paint - maybe jazz up Air Force One and the beast with some fresh colors. Just sayin.
ОтветитьHi great video!!!
ОтветитьIgnition module or PiP sensor
ОтветитьSwap the dizzy I had some weird issues one day I replaced the whole thing and it helped me out
ОтветитьDefinitely was a weak point on the ignition system. The module been going out since these cars were new.
ОтветитьGo to ProM ECUand the TFI isn’t used 😃
But get the FatFoxx relocation kit to get it away from the heat.
For one relocate the module from the dizzy. 2 that coolant temp sensor that goes to the intake manifold the big one that seems to help with breaking up up top and other things breakup can also be something in the wiring getting so old and brittle and seen wires cause so much havoc and the dizzy signal wire needs shilding done better than the stock shielded wire źźźvzvzvç
ОтветитьYup typical TFI lol I bought the relocation Tfi kit and never looked backed. When u have a supercharger or turbo under the hood the Tfi dies out quickly from the heat.
Ответитьi had the same problem i stuck me a piece of thin asbestos duct sheeting i got from demo job between tfi and dizzy over 2 years ago no more problems
Ответить👍😎 I've got a 50cal ammo can with spare parts with me at all times. (Module, coil, 2 plugs, tps, map, mas, long plug wire, relays, etc) Tool bag too.
BTW pick up real Motorcraft parts at junk yard cheap. (Hey, the cars were running when they crashed 👍
Thanks again for the content. I have changed alot of those and always replace with philips screws. Like you said alot easier to find a screw driver then that specific little tool.
Ответить🔔😎Does anybody make a quiet supercharger? 🤔🤔
ОтветитьGood Video Man!!
Ответитьlots of hop. I like caltracs work goooood
ОтветитьNice video! Had the same problem breaking up at 5500 on my green mustang, installed a Holly crank trigger and it fixed it!
ОтветитьPertonix love there stuff
ОтветитьI have an issue when it gets cold outside. Only when it gets cold outside it gets hard to start and backfires under acceleration only (half throttle or more) between 1500-2500 rpm. It's an 88 gt
Ответить7/32 is the socket
ОтветитьWant power get afr 220
Ответитьmy fox would shut down and fire back off shut down and fire back off and so on due to this module
ОтветитьUnfortunately you do not wanna use dielectric grease on that tfi. You wanna use Arctic Silver High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Cooling Compound. Been down this road before. Also a relocation tfi module is a great idea.
ОтветитьMy 91 Gt would not rev passed 2000 rpm under a load. Replaced the TFI on my MSD Ignition that didn't help.. found the plug inside the MSD distributor that connects to the TFI melted. I replaced the whole distributor with a" Davis" . Made in America 🇺🇸.. so far so good.
ОтветитьGreat video, and information. Thanks for sharing!! Retro sounds awesome!!😎👍🏻👊🏻
ОтветитьAlso, you can change the TFI module without pulling the distributor. I use to do it that way in my 89'.
ОтветитьI though my TFI was bad, however it turned out to be the pip sensor. I put the light tester on the tan wire on the coil. It wasn't flashing. Once I replaced the pip, the light tester flashes nicely
ОтветитьGood job! I rebuilt my distributor and the parts store TFI failed after a year. It is now replaced with a Pertronix. It hasn't rained here since FTO...
ОтветитьHave had similar experience with TFI modules and yeah set the base timing on balancer with the spout out and let the computer control the timing advance. What you explained was correctly distinguishing between base timing and timing advance - the latter done via the computer. The “spout” is just basically a jumper wire inside a little plastic piece that connects the computer circuit for the timing advance.
ОтветитьTest the ignition module ohms against a new one at the store, I do. This problem usually shows up under hot conditions, heat reduces the resistance thus yur SOL.
ОтветитьThe speedo always been broken?
ОтветитьCar sounds so good 🍻
ОтветитьI have a 91 and I’m not getting vacuum when it ideals
ОтветитьMy tfi went out the other week and it died outa no where sitting there running lost all fire. It's like the tfi lost ground connection. And blah. Put a new one in and bam ripping. And I changed mine in the car just turned it changed it and used the timing light and put it back at 10 degrees no problems
ОтветитьMan that blower is nasty with that bcam lol I’m buying a Kenne Bell for my 86!!
ОтветитьI alway added written notes on the underside of the hood in paint pen. So the new owner has the important info right there to see.
ОтветитьYou should have said some fox's not all or certain year's lol
ОтветитьIf you aren't scared of a little wiring, a 1991 Ford ranger 3.0L moved the tfi module off of the distributor and put it on a heat sink mounted to the core support. My plan is to make a screw on connector on the distributor and move it. I've had tfi modules go out while offroading in the middle of nowhere. Apparently it is heat that kills them.
ОтветитьYou crack me up. Coal. It is spelled COIL. And yes the module does fail. Mine failed 2 weeks ago , just died. no hiccups or anything , just stopped. All i did was to replace it , marked the distributor housing to manifold and turned it CCW to get access to the bolts, Using the correct tool that I have , removed and replaced the tfi module with the original one that i had saved. applied thermal paste to help dissipate the heat . Then turned it back to the mark and engine fired right up. Didn't have to pull distributor or recheck the timing . All there. And yes i did buy a new one to have as a spare. That will go in the car along with the proper tools to change it out and thermal paste.
ОтветитьThis is one of my Favorite Cars you have
ОтветитьI can't stress how important it is to keep a new tfi part on hand while driving. That simple part cost me so much in diag and throwing parts at it. Even if you purchase a new one one make sure it's good. They have a good reputation for being dead out the box
