ОтветитьRemarkable - and, given the date of the recording, mindblowing!
ОтветитьEinfach traumhaft schön, hervorragende Stimmen! Schade das man heute nicht mehr so singt...
ОтветитьGod given voices.....to marvelous to even question.........who today can sing like them.???

ОтветитьFantastisch!!!!!
ОтветитьThe perfection of the Art of Singing
ОтветитьFrom the first moment, one enters an idyllic world where love is fully expressed. This is Orpheus, transforming human experience with his art. Truly great singing.
ОтветитьHaving just heard the Swoon 100 on ABC FM over the Queen's Birthday Weekend 2015 - this should have been Number 1
Fabulous singing by two absolute stars!
Wonderful, this is the first time I heard this duet, magnificent, thanks for posting.
ОтветитьBoth singers embody the music.
ОтветитьA fabulous remastering of one of the greatest voices (Tauber's) in the era of recorded music, which comment is not intended to denigrate Lotte Lehmann. I'd not previously heard Tauber singing Korngold altho' knew this duet; so thank you.
ОтветитьGrandios! con anima!
ОтветитьThe epitome of human love. Two wonderful singers interpret the ideal experience we should all aspire to: the utter loss of self in the contemplation of a loved one. A life which contained this summit of feeling would be fulfilled, even if the loved object were soon lost, as here. My life is enhanced by this music.
ОтветитьKorngold's music and these two voices are a combination close to perfection!
ОтветитьWonderful singing and well done to all in remastering this treasure .
Ответитьmeravigliosi entrambi !
Ответитьtheir voices captivated my soul. so beautiful
ОтветитьWonderful. Shows what Germany threw away in the 30's
ОтветитьBrought tears to my eyes...beautifull
ОтветитьThank you for this GEM!
ОтветитьOne of my very favourite versions of Marietta's Lied!
Lehmann and Tauber! Dreams are made of this...
Ответитьsublime
ОтветитьSuch sublime style , control mastering this beautiful lied
ОтветитьAbsolutely wonderful. Thank you.
ОтветитьSuperb!
Ответитьi love the song as much as they seem to love eachother
ОтветитьIf you like this try listening to Carol Neblett and Rene Kollo singing it also Beverly Sills
ОтветитьMagnificent!
ОтветитьCredit is also due to Georg Szell who conducts here in one of his earliest recordings.
He and Tauber and Lehmann had appeared in the Berlin première of the opera just 5 days earlier.
The music that inspired these two great singers is the part that needs telling. Korngold was only twenty-three when he composed this work. "Die Tote Stadt." was a great operatic success, and is still regularly performed around the world. Because Korngold was a Jew, this composition was considered evil when the thought controllers took over. Beauty became political. But beauty won.
ОтветитьWonderful!
ОтветитьSubline,great inteterpretarion.
ОтветитьBeautiful sounds from two great performers.
ОтветитьBeautiful duet and wonderful remastering. Thank you very much.
ОтветитьThere is wizardry here, not just for the peerless singing, but for the rapt conducting, which comes from the baton of Georg Szell. I've seen some credits for this record that leave off Szell's name entirely. So it's no one's fault if some later transfers also omit his name from the credits. Not only do all three artists -- Szell, Lehmann, Tauber -- accomplish something magical here. These three were actually collaborating in a run of this very opera on stage right when this track was made, and the concentration of character, feeling, fine singing and orchestral playing in this record clearly reflects the intensity of "live" performance.
ОтветитьWunderschön.
Ответитьthis is gods Music.......Korngold was not an Atheist........no great Music was ever composed by an Atheist............Facts and love from vienna austria
ОтветитьWonderful singing :)
ОтветитьA "desert island" recording, for me. And a tremendous remastering: thank you!

ОтветитьWonderful.........blends to one with age......would even like to hear some slight scratching......so haunting and nostalgic!! Remastering is too good but anyway.. excellent!!
ОтветитьIt just doesn't get much better than this.....
