I’d be curious to see how much use you get out of the ramps and dovetail while staying under 26k gross combo weight. I’d think you won’t be haul8ng a lot of equipment that needs to be driven on so I wonder if the weight and expense of the ramps will be worthwhile. Maybe the versatility will pay off, but my gut says the extra weight will cost you more than the ability to roll on will make you. But it all depends on what kind of freight you’re able to get into. I would absolutely recommend keeping the highest quality and load rating possible on the tires. Running singles means these tires are going to end up suffering. And a blowout on duals can be limped along for a while if you need to, but if you blow a single, you’re stopping and changing a tire right away. And I’d be vigilant about monitoring tire pressures all the way around too. A lot of drivers don’t think much of it but having correct pressure in your tires will save a lot of money in the long run. Btw, an on-board air compressor with lines to hit all tires would be a nice add-on at some point…plus you can run a train horn then. Lol!
Keep in mind that your calculated max payload doesn’t mean you can count on hauling that full weight. You still need to distribute the weight properly between steer, drive and trailer axles for trailer to pull safely. Some loads will be heavy on one end or the other, sometimes too long to position properly to slit your weights correctly. If your trailer is over axle and you’ve got no weight on the drive axle, it’ll make for a bad day. You’ll learn where your center is and how to distribute the weight best.
Do yourself a favor and study up on proper load securement. It’ll save you money on ruined tie down equipment, damage claims, and fines from the DOT man. May need to invest in some tarps too….
Get out there and kick some ass. Remember to take your time. Don’t get in a hurry and don’t take dumb risks. Keeping your door closed and your hands on that wheel is the first thing to keep in mind on the business end of things. Because if them wheels ain’t turnin’ you ain’t earnin’.

You have to be with in the trailer weight load limits for your trailer.
You can use a trailer with a heavier load capacity.. but dont over load according to your drivers liscsen specificatiions that you are liscesned for!😮😮
Tip: never exceed the truck weigh limits or your trailers or your drivers liscsen legal limits!

Ответить
@JeffreyKemper
@JeffreyKemper - 05.02.2024 05:02

Eacch axle adds to your load capacity for heavier loads.
Just like fora semi truck
Steer axle is 12,000 lbs.
Rear axles are 24,000 lbs each.

That is 24,000 lbs +24,000 lbs. On a 3 axle truck addanother 24,000 lbs for each additional axle.

Plus dually tires is much better and safer for y ou and your vehicle and load safety.

You can use a heavier duty system but your load can not exceed your for drivers liscsen capacity limits!❤

You have 2 gvw readings

1 is just trialer weight empty!

The second is trailer + load ( at full limit not to exceed or you get a ticket!)😢😢😢😢

That means everything that is on your trailer.
Straps, cumalong, ratchet straps, tiedows, tarps,chains and so on!
All reduuce from your load capacity.

Each item for your load has to be properly strapped or chained down in all directions to prevent moving in any direction! Forward, backwards, and side to side.
It ❤straps or chains must. Exc❤eed the weight of item being being hauled exceed limits.

5,000 lb. Item.
Strapped or chained from rolling forward or sliding. 10,000 lbs. In each direction for each individual item.
It can not exceed the chain or strap limits.
If you need 5 chain or 10 straps to equal that 10,000 lb requirement . Then you need to do so by law.

You also need to stop and check your load for shifting ❤movement- forward, back wards and side to side at 50 miles and 150 miles in your trip daily each day by law.

Tip: your load will work itseld free as going through corners stop and go and going up and down hills or mountains.

Plus, other pissed off drivers might loosen your loads straps or binders on you to cause an accident or to force you out of business in a cut throat world.
It does happen.

Also check your tires, straps, chains, and king pin connection at every rest stop after leaving your vehicle or sleeping or goiing to restroom or launch.😮
( fines are extreme $10,000.00. Per incident and you can get up to $250,000.00 in one day!😮😮😮😮

Not good for your wallet as a driver.

Companies dont care if you are over loaded and get heavily fined.

Nice job young man BUT the only thing to worry about is tractor/truck SWAYING when loaded. If you pushing the trailer capacity, always staying within the 26000 thousand pounds GVWCR, your truck will definitely sway side to side and that’s scary depending of your speed of course. Your best bet is to have the same set up but run a dully instead.

My understanding from reading the TXDOT website is that any trailer with a GVWR of >10,000 lbs needs a class A CDL. The only exception is for Agricultural Trailers and these are limited to <20,000 lbs and can be towed with a class B CDL.

Ответить
@mp-xt2rg
@mp-xt2rg - 15.08.2024 16:44

You may find that you have almost no load capacity because the tongue weight is too high. That trailer will transfer 20 to 25% of it's load to the truck so you're looking at 10k total weight before the truck is overloaded. Trailer weighs 5k so that's only 5k for payload. Bumper pull would have much higher capacity with the limitations your truck has. Goosenecks are better suited to dually trucks.

26K is NOT the CDL cutoff. GD, this myth is pervasive.

I do NOT have a CDL, and my max GVW is 80k unless I get a permit to go over.

CD in CDL means COMMERCIAL DRIVER. GVWR has nothing to do with being a commercial driver.
